Postpartum stitches itching

I'm about 9 days PP and just as I'm starting to feel better from my vaginal delivery, I'm starting to itch like CRAZY down there!!

I've read online that this is from the stitches dissolving (I had a significant tear so I can only imagine there are quite a few stitches....), but I haven't really seen anyone post any remedies that I haven't already tried for relief (witch hazel pads, dermoblast spray, etc.)

How long can I expect this to last? Does anyone have any recommendations or insight on this??

I took a Benadryl and it seems to be taking the edge off, but I can't see myself being able to function properly if I'm taking it every 4 hours. I already feel like a bit of a zombie.

Help!

Re: Postpartum stitches itching

YEP! I think I posted about this at about 2.5 weeks PP for me. It was AWFUL for about 2-3 days and then it just....stopped. It must have been the stitches dissolving because right after that was when I started feeling almost normal again. For me, keeping the area clean helped. I sat in a shallow, warm bath for a few minutes and used the peri bottle often to keep it clean, and then I used chilled witch hazel pads to help with the itch. It DOES go away I promise!
