what happens and to ask at the 12w apt

as I understand this is one of the biggy ones
so what exactly happens? I am scheduled for a scan first and then I am meeting my Dr for the 1st time (was just recently discharged from my fertility center)

what questions should I prepare? what even happens at these?

clueless over here. after researching my fertility from all sides I am feeling a bit loss now that I am preg hehe

the 12 week scan is great - you get to see the baby and it looks like a baby!

they will check for certain "soft markers" to check for downs syndrome and trisomy 18. they measure something at the back of the neck (i think its the amout of fluid but im not certain about that), they check for a nasal bone, and they check out the hands, feet etc.
they measure the baby to make sure he/she is on track

its basically just a longer ultrasound then youve had before

my place also does the bloodwork there - at the same appt. its a finger prick - but some doctors have you do it a different time or have you do it yourself.

i would ask when you would get the results back from the blood test
and also since its a new doctor you are meeting, i would ask how many people are in their practice? how often are your appointments? thats all i can think of off the top of my head.
