Another holiday gift question for teachers

My son is in Pre-k through the school district. He has a class parent, I dont know who though. Do classs parents usually collect for a gift or do I buy my own? I am new to this, but would like to get a jump on gift buying.

I'm the class mom for my DS's preK class. I plan on sending a letter first week in Dec collecting money for gifts for their teachers. If you don't get anything in your LO's folder after the first week or two in Dec then do something on your own.

They also have a limit at the school what we can ask for so I still do a gift on my own besides the "class the gift" and so does some other moms I am friendly with from class.

I'm a teacher and typically my class moms send a note around the 1st week of December to collect money. Not everyone participates, so they get their own gifts. Sometimes even the ones that gave money get an additional little gift too.
