How often did your 5 week old EBF baby eat?

The past few days DS seems to have changed his eating habits. Really right around his 4 week/1 month birthday. He is eating less often during the day, typically about every 3 hours now with some 2 hour stretches, and at night (thank goodness) he is going for one 4.5-5 hours stretch. I started pumping to get ready to go back to work so DH gives him a bottle of pumped milk around 11:30pm and we get a nice sleep stretch out of that. He is still peeing and pooping a ton, sleeping well and he has happy awake/alert time. Just wondering if this is common around this time, to decrease how often they eat? I was so used to him constantly wanting to eat that this is strange to me!

Around 6 weeks DD finally got into a good routine using eat, play, sleep but she still nursed about every two hours. She didn't go to 3 hours until she was over 4 months but I think it's more typical for them to do that sooner. I think by 6 weeks they are usually already at the peak amount that they will take in until they start solids and start to decrease. He's probably just taking in more each feeding at this point. Enjoy the extra freedom!

My son was still eating every 2 hours at that age. Like PP said, enjoy the freedom!!

My DD will be 3 weeks tomorrow. she is eating 3 to 3 1/2 oz every 3 hours. i'm exculsively pumping and not really having to supplement. Our ped said yesterday that she should be eating 4 oz every 4 hours by one month with a stretch at night. So sounds like your Lo is right on track. When you pump and DH feeds how much is LO taking in?

sounds like your right on. DD just upped herself to 3 oz in the last few days. she also went from 7lbs 12 oz last week to 8lbs 8oz yesterday!

Almost constantly. There really is no normal at that age.

It is common, but it may change still over the next few weeks. Babies have growth spurts at 4w and 6w so his nursing and sleeping habits may change a bit.

Mg baby has been eating 3.5 oz every 2 hrs for the past 4 months...she is 5 months old. Nothing has changed much for her..yet. im.hoping any day now she'll sleep through the night..yawn. (I pump only)
