You gotta do what you need to for 24-48 hrs do that you can have years to bond with your baby!

I had preeclampsia & wasn't allowed to get out of bed until they got me stable enough to go down to the NICU, so I didn't see DS for nearly 48 hours after he was born. We still bonded beautifully, and pumping worked out just fine to get my milk supply started. It's not an ideal situation but try not to worry. It'll work out.

Thank you for all of the responses! I didn't have much time to worry because the very night I posted this, I started bleeding heavily at 2:30am. We rushed to the hospital and I called my OB on the way. We were at the hospital by 3am and DD was born at 6:07am! Everything happened so fast, but thank God both DD and I were fine! I saw her for a few minutes in the OR and then that night around 10pm, a nurse brought her to me for 5 minutes. I was out of CCU 18 hours later and moved to maternity. All was fine!

My baby was born via emergency c section due to fetal distress at 6pm and I didn't even get a glimpse of him until 4 am the next morning. He had to be resuscitated and tubed directly after coming out. After that he was in the nicu and for 3 days I wasn't able to hold him. He wasn't able to nurse until he was a week old.
It was torture and still hurts my heart to think of that time but we have an incredible bond and he nursed like a champ till I decided to wean him off at 7 months.

I had my son at 29 weeks 6 days. I didn't hold him until 2 days after he was born. To this day (6 years later) I still think about it once in a while, but believe me when I say that the first time is magical, and you'll never forget it....and you will surely make up for it! I don't feel like it had an impact on our bonding at all.
