Whole milk transition and struggles

I have been offering whole milk to DD for 6-7 weeks and (she is over 13 mos) and she just doesn't drink a lot. Any tips or tricks? I offer 3x a day, have tried with meals, without meals, before nap, after naps, all different times. Tried warming, serving cold, in different sippies, even a bottle! I offer her 9oz a day (3oz at a time) and she takes maybe 3-5 max for the day. I still BF her 2-3x a day but my supply is tanking and I know she isn't getting much from the boob based on pumping and pee diapers not being sopping wet anymore.

DD does eat very well and sips on water throughout the day. Ped said as long as she is getting calcium and enough fat she should be fine and some babies aren't big milk drinkers. DD gets plenty of yogurt, cheese, avocado, veggies, meats so she didn't seem concerned. She didn't suggest trying almond or coconut milk and I really want to stick with whole milk. So just keep at it and keep offering right? I feel like this kid is getting no liquids and it strsses me out!

My DD was the same way. I weaned at 12/13 months because the doctors told me she would drink more milk if i gave up my 3x a day nursing sessions. It sort of worked. but at 15 months she still only drinks 8 oz of milk a day. the doctor said thats good enough as long as its supplemented with yogurt. I usually put 2oz of milk in her oatmeal, or give her 1/2 cup of yogurt, cheese slices, cottage cheese... just to make sure she gets her dairy.

Whole milk transition and struggles

My DS will have milk 2x a day. Morning and night. He has yogurt and cheese all the time and lots of water so I never worry.

My DD (13 mos) is the same way. I've been nursing her 2-3x/day up until like the last week where it's been more like 1-2x/day (every morning, but the afternoon/evening seems to be becoming less and less). She drinks less than one full sippy cup (9 oz.) a day of regular milk. She likes it, but doesn't want more than a few sips at a time. My ped said she should be getting 12-24 oz per day, but not to worry if she's lower - just make sure to give yogurt and cheese, etc.

I def think it has something to do with BFing!

Whole milk transition and struggles

My first was the same way! He was EBF and really didn't take to cow's milk when we introduced it at a year. We tried everything you tried! We finally figured out that the thickness bothered him because he was used to only breast milk and water, which are both very thin. So we tried giving him skim milk, which he gulped down! So we did a slow transition- a few days of skim, then skim mixed with 1%, then just 1%, then mixed with 2%, etc. He was on whole milk after about 2 weeks. HTH!!
