First IUI Cycle
First IUI Cycle
Some questions....
1) clomid - does it throw your temps off? My temps seem almost like O temps.
2) do you try on your own with IUIs and how frequently. The RE told me it's ok to try but not for two days leading up to my peek in order to have maximum sperm count for the IUI. But my cycles aren't regular so I have no idea when my peak will be. It makes me afraid to try on our own at all, but without us trying it feels so clinical.
3) I also read clomid makes CM thicker and it impossible for sperm to get through it without an IUI anyhow, anyone know if this is true.
4) the nurse said to test for O twice a day starting on Day 11. In the morning and before 5pm. I know your not supposed to use FMU on ovulation predictors, so do I have to get up early pee, wait 4 hours, pee on a stick, wait another 4 hours and pee again? Or is FMU ok for the first test if I'm testing again later.
Thanks for any help.
Clomid sucks, my stomach aches, I keep crying and I've had a horrible headache since day 2.

I don't know answers to all your questions but I don't think Clomid makes it impossible to let sperm go through - we're doing intercourse cycles, and others do as well.
Clomid messed me up too especially the first round. I was EXTREMELY tired - could not get out of bed for 2 days (thankfully it was a weekend), I was so bloated and was a complete emotional mess.
Hang in there - it goes away after a few days.

1. I stopped temping when I started clomid so I'm not sure.
2. If you are on clomid you should be monitored- so the RE or DR should be looking at your follicle growth and then tell you when to BD or have the IUI. It's not a guessing game.
3. Clomid does not make it impossible for sperm. If you want to maximize your CM, you can try mucinex or robitussin. An IUI pushes the sperm up further, so it does not have to travel as much.
4. Test around 8 or 9, and then 3 or 4. I always tested positive in the afternoon - even with pregnancy tests.
Did the nurse give you instructions for what to do if you test positive?

Hey...
1- I never temped so I can't help you with that one...
2- I use an OPK 2x a day started just after my sono (usually day 11/12) Because I have been doing this for what seems like FOREVER, I can usually predict when I am going to get my Peak and my Positive (CBE kits give you a heads up just before you are going to O). I use the trigger when I get my Peak and then go for the IUI. DH and I usually  on day 15 (I usually O on 17/18) then again the night of the IUI and the next night as well...
3- I might make the CM thicker but it couldn't make it so thick that it is impossible otherwise they would never suggest timed intercourse with clomid
4- I actually test with my FMU and then around 5/6pm....never had an issue with it...

Thank you everyone. Your answers were very helpful.
I will be monitored starting at day 14, since I have long cycles, but I am supposed to start using OPKs on Friday, day 10, just in case it comes earlier.
They did give me instructions on what to do if I get a peak.
I hate this stuff, I've had a headache, I feel huge, I am uncomfortable and irritable. I burst into tears on Saturday night over the most ridiculous thing and my husband stood there like, really, you are crying over this. Took two more days of crying at commercials to figure out it was hormonal.
Does it get better when your done taking it, or does it make you miserable for the whole cycle?
