We use M&Ms for everything! DD will do anything for 2 M&Ms. But once she got really good at sitting and going on the potty, if she didn't remember about the M&Ms, we didn't offer. If she did remember, we would give them to her. Once she actually was trained, there was so much excitement over the fact that she made it to the potty w/o an accident, we both forgot about M&Ms. And that was that.

So basically we only used them initially as a reward for sitting and staying on the potty and going. Once she had that down, and we went diaper free, the M&Ms phased out due to excitement.

Thanks! We went cold turkey with diapers a week ago and DD has it down. She has been going at least once a day for a year, so I think I finally caught her when she was really ready (will be 3 in Jan). But she asks for M&Ms immediately and I even think makes herself go for them, lol. I'll keep it going longer and hopefully she'll stop asking for them so much.

I used mini M&m's. 1 for pee, 2 for poop and 3 for staying dry all night.
Dd was trained in 3 days but the m&m's lasted for weeks. Eventually she just forgot about them.
I used the minis because I swear she peeing all day Long just to get the M&m's.

We switched to scooby snacks because he was getting smart and peeing THEN pooping a few minutes later hence getting extra m&ms. But like pp said, if he doesn't remember, we don't offer. It's at the point that he just wants to go back to playing.

Honestly it just kind of happened. The novelty wore off I guess.
