False Positive Q - Added pic to album
Hi ladies - so I've been a moody beast lately and very crampy, even though my period isn't due for another week I took a test that I had home (CBE digital). It came up pregnant. So I ran to the store and bought First Response and EPT and they both came up BFN. I took another EPT this morning and BFN. What gives?? Are CBE known to give false positive readings??

there is no such thing as a "false positive". I have found that the CBE Digi's tend to be SUPER sensitive (surprisingly). I do not trust EPT, and FRER never shows early responses for me. The FRER/EPT's, did you take those on the same day? Also, how long did you wait for the CBE digi? Sometimes if you let it sit for longer than the 10 minutes, an evap line appears and that changes it from the negative to positive.

I forgot to say, after the first CBE came positive, I bought another CBE test, the one that estimates how many weeks I would be. Both negative.
So one CBE was positive, 2 negative. EPT negative FRER negative
These were all taken the same day, within an hour of each other. So weird!! I guess I'll wait a few more days then test again. I just thinks it's strange that the same brand gave me 2 different answers.

I would just be careful how long you wait to read it. If you wait long enough with the digi's, often they will turn "positive" because of the evap line. ALSO, and this is a big one, that if you test later in the day, and not use FMU, it can often be too diluted to really register as positive. However, with all of the neg's you've got, it sounds more like the first CBE digi had an evap line that made it read positive after waiting around.

If AF isn't due for another week, stop testing. Don't test until AF is due. It's only going to make you crazy and you'll be wasting money on tests that may not show a BFP for a few more days.

Jess, sorry to rack your brain, but how can I see an evaporation line on the test if it says Pregnant or Not Pregnant? I googled this and saw that people have broken open the test to look for it. So confused!

THIS too - I totally forgot you said that you were still 1 week away from AF. I would do the same, try to wait until AF is due to test. At this point, it's WAY too soon.

Don't bother breaking it open, I've done that before and it's not worth it. You are WAY too early to see a positive on any test, so my best guess is that it was an evap line.

Test tomorrow with FMU. You need to give your body time to build up the horomone that the preg test looks for. If you took three tests within an hour of each other, and still have quite a few days before your AF is due, you probably have very low levels of the horomone to begin with.

Unless you used urine from a cup from the first test they others were diluted urine since it was only an hour later.
I would just wait and test in the am.

I would wait a few more days.... I've vowed (we'll see if I actually do it) not to test until the EARLIEST 3 days before AF is due.

sorry to crash but there's not a faint line on that frer? If you used subsequent urine samples for each test, they were diluted. I would test with a frer in the am

I agree. I could swear I see a faint line on the FRER but I can't zoom in on my computer.
False positives are rare, especially on digitals. Take another tomorrow and see what it says.

Re: False Positive Q - Added pic to album
I think you may be off on your days or maybe your last period wasn't a real period because I see a faint line on FRER. I agree with the others, the first test you took with FMU, the others may have been very diluted.
CBE digital needs 50 hcg to pick it up. Actually, I think all digital PG tests do.
FRER needs 20-25 which is why I see a faint faint line on it.
I would test again with FMU.

This, BUT, I will say that I have gotten pos on CBE digi with less than 50 (I think the last time it was like near 25, because by the next day it was down to 9 already)... some can be REALLY sensitive.
I would wait a few more days then test with FMU...

Re: False Positive Q - Added pic to album
I see a slight line on the FRER too. Remember, there are two FRER's out there-- early result and rapid result. Rapid result needs 100hcg to become +. Ept's usually require 50hcg. Either the digi you used was more sensitive or you just have not built up enough hormone in your urine for another clear +. I would test again with fmu to see if you get another +. Digi's usually never give false +'s but it could always happen. Hoping for you!!

Thanks I've been distracted these past 2 days bc DS has croup. But I managed to POAS this morning and BFN. If I calculated my days correctly, I still have about 5 days or so till AF. We weren't TTC, but I admit I will be pretty excited if I end up getting a positive test!
