Jackets and carseats
I know that babies aren't supposed to wear jackets while in a car seat. What do you guys do? Ds is 6 months old now. I can't see that putting a coat on and taking it off in the car would be easy. Just wondering what other do. Thanks!

Jackets and carseats
Last winter when DD was that age I always just put a hooded sweatshirt or fleece on her. The carter's sherpa jacket was my favorite for colder days. I never even bothered with hats or mittens and all that, just put the hood up on her sweatshirt. She was in the infant seat so I just threw a blanket over her and then the foot muff that came with her carseat.

Re: Jackets and carseats
when DD was still in an infant seat i just dressed in whatever she was wearing for the day then used those car seat covers to go over the car seat to keep them warm. i used once of those since she was born and she was born in january it keeps them warm enough.
After she got out of the infant car seat i got her a lands end i think its the squall jacket its thin but keeps you warm in very cold weather

Re: Jackets and carseats
We're using a fleece jacket right now. We used that Carters bear onepiece thingy since she was born last feb until it got warm.

Re: Jackets and carseats
We used the JJ Cole last year. It was so convenient that I'm tempted to use it again this year since they can still use their bucket carseats. But Im sure they would pull it off. I got them a thinner quilted coat this year.

Re: Jackets and carseats
if hes in the infant carrier, something like this works great (i used it for DD feb - april) if it was freezing out i would put a fleece blanket on her too

Re: Jackets and carseats
When DS was still in the carrier, I'd put on a hat and he had the bundleme on the car seat.
Now that he's in a convertible car seat, I just put on a hat and fleece and will throw a blanket over (over the straps) him if it's still cold. He'll kick it off, but I'll have tried!

Re: Jackets and carseats
When my DS was an infant, I never put him in his car seat with a coat. I would tuck him in with a heavy, comfy baby blanket (or two). Worked great. Even now at 3 years old, he doesn't wear a coat in his car seat. I always have him put on a (pull over) fleece sweater over his clothes. He wears his coat walking to the car of course but once he's in the car the coat comes off. But he still has the fleece on underneath

DD is 9 months. I use a hooded north face fleece and blanket until we get to the car, then into the infant seat and I take the blanket off.

Re: Jackets and carseats
If she is still in the carrier we had one of those shower cap style covers. Very warm and cozy. Didn't interfere with the straps.
When she moved to the convertible seat I got her a Lands End Squall Jacket. Super thin but super warm.
