Jackets and carseats
I am so saddened by how many parents I see with their newborns all bundled up in their infant car seat Today, a mother in Alex's school came in with her 1 week old baby in a heavy snowsuit/blanket type thing in the infant carseat, you could tell the straps were not snug and the clip which should be across the chest was down by his belly button area. An accident can happen at anytime whether it is the 5 minute drive home from school or the highway. I really think they should discuss car seat safety more. I see an example of this almost everyday. Also, almost all the mothers at school put their toddlers in their carseats with the bulky jackets on. I feel awkard saying anything to the mothers because I don't know if they are aware and dont' really think it is a risk or what, but it is so easy to take the jacket off and strap them in.
Sorry for the rant, but the accident post reminded me of this.

Re: Jackets and carseats
I see it too and it makes me cringe. My sister was involved in a roll over accident a couple of years ago in the snow. Fortunately her son was snug in the carseat without a bulky jacket. Had he have had a bulky jacket on, he probably would've been ejected from the carseat since the straps would've compressed the jacket.
