can you tell me about moses baskets?
I forget where but I was reading something that was PRAISING them as the #1 workhorse of all baby items. I didn't have one with my 1st but it made me wonder if I should get one for #2...but I'm a little concerned because many of them are lined with batting and fabric along the sides...can't that be considered a suffocation hazard? or do they still get air going through the basket weave? I see they even have a rocking stand you can put it on.

I received a GORGEOUS one at my shower for DD. I hate to say it but I never used it. I had so many other places to put DD and it just seemed like it probably wasn't very safe. It had plush padding all around the inside and since bumpers are a suffocation risk, I figured that had to be too. I sorta assumed people don't actually use them for the baby but I guess I could be wrong.
I put it in the nursery as a decoration and put stuffed animals inside. It's actually still in there but now it's overflowing with stuffed animals and you can't even tell what it is.

I had a gorgeous Pucci Moses basket for DD. I rarely used it.
It was gorgeous though. Lol

My in-laws got us one for DS. Honestly I'd never even heard of a moses basket before then. It was ok, he'd nap in it the first month, but now he's outgrowing it. I'd have to watch him very closely because of the fabric lining. I wouldn't buy one myself, nothing special imo.

I could never figure out what would be so great about them  . They are adorable, but impractical from what I can tell.

I think they are such junk. My sister had one, it was a floppy, crappy mess. Not remotely comfortable for the baby and did nothing but sit there and be a basket. lolol You couldn't lift and carry the baby in it, it had nothing to entertain them, and no vibration or motion. Totally useless IMO.
You're better off with the FP Newborn to Toddler Rocker, a swing, or the Rock n Play.
