14 month old hitting

she won't stop hitting me even when we tell her no. what do i do about it?? its so embarrassing in public. I try to ignore it. We say no or put her down alone sometimes. I just don't know what I'm supposed to do.

Firmly say "no" and take her out of the situation.

In public, I firmly would hold the hitting hand and say "no".

It's a phase. It passes quickly.
