Feeding help!??

My DD is almost 5 month old. She is totally different than my first DD. She is 14.5lbs and she can kill and 8 oz bottle most of the time now. My first wasnt 15 lbs until 1..haha. She eats every 3 hours. I had one dr tell me to start cereal and another tell me to wait 6 months so I dont know what to do. But she is a hungry girl!!Chat Icon What would you do?

Re: Feeding help!??

Thank you. I think she is def ready! Another silly question..since I cant for the life of me remember how to do this. What should my feeding schedule look like> Chat Icon

Usually she gets a 8oz bottle around 8:00am. Should I give less bottle and then cereal?? You think I should know this stuff the second time around!!Chat Icon

Feeding help!??

Do whatever you want. My DS started foods at 4 months so its not too early.

Do whatever works for you. I personally added dinner as the first meal since I wanted to be home to feed DS. I still offered the same amount of formula and let him naturally reduce it as he took more food.

Re: Feeding help!??

My DD is a little more than 5 months. She started cereal just before 4 months because she was eating so much formula that the doc said to slow it down and try a tablespoon of cereal at dinner. That reduced her from drinking 35 oz of formula a day to 30-31 oz of formula a day. She now continues to drink that much formula but also eats veggies and fruits. Her schedule looks like this:

6:30 am- 4 oz. bottle (goes right back to sleep)
8:30 (wake-up)- Has 3 oz. from a 6 oz. bottle
9:00- Has 1 1/2 tablespoons of cereal + 1/2 a jar of fruit. I take the formula for the cereal from the 6 oz. bottle.
9:30- Finishes the 6 oz. bottle
12:30- 7 oz. bottle
4:30- Same routine as above, has 3 oz. from a 7 oz. bottle
5:00- Has 1 jar of a veggie
5:30- Finishes the 7 oz. bottle
7:30- Same routine, has 3 oz. from a 7 oz. bottle
8:00- 2 tablespoons of cereal + 1/2 a jar of fruit. Again I take the formula for the cereal from the bottle
8:30- Drinks the rest of the 7 oz. bottle. I usually add in another couple of ounces and she drinks that down too. So her last bottle is usually 9 oz. all together.
9:00/9:15ish- bed

I know her schedule is a little weird because her bottles are broken up, but she's always been like that! She never wants to just down a 7 oz. bottle. She used to spit up a lot and still does a little, so eating smaller amounts at one time has helped immensely. If you feel like your DD would enjoy food (mine was staring us down at dinner time) then go for it!!
