Need advice
Had doctor appointment yesterday. Currently 38 weeks and 4 days I've been having contractions since 35 weeks and they had to stop them in hospital at that point. They have continued as I haven't worked since. They are not being productive and I am only 50% effaced and closed tight. Dr discussed inducing me next week as the contractions should be having some effect on my cervix at this point, and I also don't feel baby move a lot. They is a NST and baby was doing great (as sh always does on tests). Anyway dr said that I would have a high rate of failed induction due to no dilation. They also thing I might have scar tissue on my cervix due to a keep and come biopsy I had 6 years ago. They said that once I have an epidural thy are able to brake up the scar tissue. But could still end up with a c. They really don't want me to go past 40 due to all above.
What would u do?

Re: Need advice
My SIL is a doctor and had a baby last year. She said to me last night "when your doctor makes a recommendation, ask if this is a strong recommendation or if there is more than one equally good option for you. If it is a strong recommendation, listen, because the people who have the most complicated deliveries are the ones who don't want to hear what their doctor is telling them."
So I would say - ask your doctor if this is a strong recommendation. Would they rather induce, let you try to go on your own, or schedule a c-section. And go based on what they say.
Good luck

Re: Need advice
I'm seeing the midwife in the practice on monday. I've seen her a few times and am extremely uncomfortable with her. I plan on discussing with her Monday and then if I do not feel like she is making me uncomfortable I plan on calling to discuss with my primary or scheduling an appt with her for next week before I decide

Re: Need advice
im a little confused as to why your doctor would say he wants to induce you but then say since you aren't dilated there is a good chance the induction wont work. if my doctor told me that, i would try to wait until 40 weeks or as long as they would let me go before scheduling an induction. in the end, you have to do what you are comfortable with. i told my dr i didnt want to be induced - she told me bc of the babys size she was giving me until 41w5d - dd came on her own at 41w1d and it was a quick & easy delivery!

Need advice
Things could change in the next week or even in the next few days. I would try to wait it out just a little longer to see if your cervix dilates and things happen naturally, but definitely make sure the doc is monitoring you and baby. Also if you are uncomfortable with the midwife I would try to call and reschedule so you can see the doctor.

THIS EXCATLY!!!!
My thought is always "I never went to med school so I'm sure the doctor knows more then I do." Ask how strong of a recommendation it is. If you can wait, I would wait it out and then schedule an induction on my 40th week. If they don't think you can wait, then schedule the induction. I had an induction, I dialated and pushed for 2 hours. Baby was still high so I ended in a c-section. My sister is an OB and she told me "50% of inductions in NYS end in a c-section".

Re: Need advice
I'm not sure if you're asking if you should let them induce you? I would go with your gut...if you are not feeling the baby that much and are always worrying that would probably influence me. In a week a lot could happen and maybe you could go before your induction

Re: Need advice
they're concerned because I don't feel the baby a lot especially in the past week. She's doing ok In there and has been monitored closely. I tried to reschedule with a doctor but none are available on Monday. The doctor yesterday said inducing at 40 weeks. They will not know of there is scar tissue until I am in labor.
If you are not dilated how do they induce you?

crashing- i was induced because my water broke but i was not dilated at all (i had a doc appt the day before and absolutely nothing was going on). they inserted cervadil to help dilate me and it worked, i didn't even need pitocin because i started to contract on my own and I had a successful vaginal birth. best of luck!!

Re: Need advice
That's what I'm hoping would happen since I am already contracting.

I had a very similar story.....My water broke and I was induced. I ended up with a csection but not because I din't dilate....DS had his hand over his head so his head area was larger with the arm in there. He just wouldn't come out.
My CS had nothing to do with a failed induction..... I would have ended up that way even if I went into labor completely on my own due to his position.
Also even if you were to labor on your own there is always a chance of a section. I would do whatever is in the best interests of the baby. If staying in could cause issues I would go for the induction. I had my DS at 37 weeks and everything was fine.

Similar except my water didn't break. My dr induced me 2 days after my due date. I was given Cervadil and also didn't end up needing Pitocin. DD was delivered vaginally.
I would listen to the dr and go with what makes you comfortable. It will all be worth it and your LO will be here soon!!

Re: Need advice
I've been researching today and cervadil seems to be better of induction drugs and opposed to cytocin. I am not opposed to a c by any means. However she gets here she gets here as long as she is safe that is all that mattet
