Baby fell at daycare... need your opinions

Hi everyone so DS fell at daycare - honestly no big deal. hes not hurt - just a little red mark on the side of his face.
Anyway - daycare teacher called me and left me a message as soon as it happned. I got the message a few mins after she left it - I was packing up to leave to pick DS up. OK fine...

So I tell DH what happened and hes mad that the daycare didnt call him - once they got my voicemail... I dont think its a big deal - I think since it was not an egregious issue they didnt feel the need to sound the alarm.

Hes mad and feels they should always call him if they get my voicemail...

Wht are your thoughts? WHat should I do now... hes mad. I was thinking of asking the teacher to always call the both of us but feel like a dweeb for sayin that...

No big deal. Since he wasn't hurt, they were just calling to inform you. What would have changed by calling him? Would he have left work to rush there? DD got hurt a few times at daycare but nothing big, they didn't even call to tell me, just told me when I picked her up. I think he's making a big deal of nothing.

Baby was fine, no rush or emergency so no... I don't think DH needed to be informed. For some little accidents that happened at daycare I didn't even get informed till I picked him up. They fill out an accident report and let you know. For fevers, diarrhea, major accidents, etc then i believe he should get a call. I think he's overreacting.
I don't think the daycare did anything wrong. I actually think it was great they lt you know immediately. DH only got a call once when I couldn't be reached when DS had a fever. By the time DH called to let me know I already spoke eith daycare and was on my way. They called work, cell then DH. For a small accient one call or accident report and telling you at school is fine.

My thoughts exactly ladies... I think he is just feeling left out and is hving a tough time just being trusting. Its a great daycare. I do drop off and pick up as its down the road from my job... I work an hour and half or so away from home and him...

Im trying to not get upset and cause a fight unnecessarily... I believe that if it was a serious thing and I couldnt be reached they would call him... I was thinking that maybe I would slip that in one day this week to the teacher... just to pacify DH i guess...

My daycare only calls me unless it is an emergency.

My DS gets hurt weekly. Not of any fault of the daycare..... He's just nuts and gets just as hurt at home. None of the accidents were major... Skinned knee, bumped head etc. They don't call for all accidents and will only call the other parent if he needs to be picked up

Re: Baby fell at daycare... need your opinions

Were both of your numbers on the teacher contact sheet? I ask because I just redid the contact sheets for my DDs preschool and 90% of the time only the mom's info is there unless the child lives in two homes. I actually went back to look at the parent filled in info sheets to double check the info and although there are lines to fill in, most of the families did not include the Father's cell phone and only a handful had the office number.

They are supposed to call if there's anything on the head. But if it's not an emergency, then a courtesy message is appropriate. You win this one!

They have both our numbers and back up contacts. Those #'s are in the office. Everyday I fill out a daily sheet and it asks how I may be contacted

Exactly this. They only call me if he is sick or if another child bit him or something like that. The only time daycare has ever called DH was when DS suddenly came down with a fever and they couldn't get a hold of me.

If your husband wants to be contacted if your baby gets hurt, they will do so. Just ask the director. If it will make your dh feel better than just have them call him in the future.

No big deal.
Our daycare doesn't even call us unless DD is sick or actually hurt.
If she falls like you described, they just have an accident report waiting for me to sign when I get there to pick her up.

Hrm.. at first I say no big deal.... but reality in my mind says its because my phone is set up different.

Yes, they call me, if they don't get me they would call him and leave us BOTH messages then call our office numbers in the same order.

However that never happens. We have google wave.. so if you call my phone and I don't answer it transfers to his number BEFORE voicemail and if he doesn't answer you get *MY* voicemail.

AJ is a clutz (she walked into a wall to weeks ago and slammed her head into a pole during recess last week). We both get calls until SOMEONE is spoken to. But once they talk to one of us, its done. And we get a written notice as well.

I wouldn't expect them to call both of us. They call me with any issues. I would only expect them to call DH if DD needed to go to the hospital or something and they couldn't reach me. They don't even call me everytime she falls.
