I think I have a clogged duct /trying to wean
I have been trying to wean DS slowly this past month or so. I have come down to just am & pm feedings and this week or so I have skipped a feeding here and there. Yesterday I woke up with a very tender , painful spot in my left breast, the area where the breast connects to an underarm, but more toward the breast , the pain was coming from deep inside, I couldn't feel any hardness or a lump or anything though. It bas mostly painful at touch but also when I moved my arm/body the certain way. And when. I turned on my left side while laying down. Come this morning and it hurts even more, i just took a showery and felt a lump where the pain is coming from. I am going to call the gyn but not sure if and when they will call . Does anyone have any experience with this? What do. I do? Thank you

Watch it, and def check back with gyn. I developed mastitis. I wasn't weaning and was so worried about taking an antibiotic, plus I had just returned to work so I didn't want to use any more time off to go to drs. I ended up with an abscess and had to go to er. It didn't effect nursing, but was 100x more painful than childbirth for me. Check out kellymom.com for some ideas for relief right now.

I know you're trying to wean but pumping or nursing on that side will help clear it. Also massage and heat (heating pad or hot shower). I've unclogged ducts that way a few times - takes a day or so but it's never turned into mastitis for me so it worked. I second KellyMom, they have good advice.
If you develop a fever or the pain gets really bad you could have mastitis & need antibiotics.

Get in the hottest shower you can and let the water run on you while you express milk. Also fill a steaming hot bowl of water and stand and lean over it. After a few minutes of standing over it express milk.
Pump or Nurse on that side. I had a few that I was able to get ahead of before I got Mastitis. It will hurt and be sore for a few days after it's cleared. But, you should feel a difference.
