How often does your 4/5 month old nurse?
I have a great relationship with my MIL and she used to be a NICU nurse for many years, so I generally trust her opinion. However, the other day she mentioned that she thought DD shouldn't be nursing every three hours, that she might need to start solids soon. I had posted a few weeks ago regarding starting solids and ultimately decided to wait a little longer. I think nursing every three hours is pretty normal, but am I wrong? DD seems very satisfied after and sleeps from 8pm until 6:15 when I wake her up. Am I missing something?

How often does your 4/5 month old nurse?
So she's nursing 5-6 times a day? I think that's more than fine for a 5 month old!!

DS is 23 weeks and nurses about every 3 hours, about 5-6 feedings a day. Has been this way for a few weeks now.

My DS was nursing every 2-3 hours at that age...Never really went much over 3 hours till he started weaning at 1 year.

My DS doesn't take BM but he's on formula and he drinks every three hours 4 ounces and he has started solids this month (turned 5 months). I spoke to his Dr because I thought that DS should be drinking his bottle maybe every 4 hours (or longer) but his Dr told me not to worry, to feed on demand because every baby is different. DS only drinks 4 ounces every three hours, I've tried giving him more ounces but he just ends up leaving it.

If your bsby is happy & growing ..do what you've been doing :). Your the mother you do what's best.

At 4.5 months DD was finally ready to switch from every 2 to every 3 hours. I didn't start solids until 6 months.

How often does your 4/5 month old nurse?
My DD is a little over 5 months and she nurses way more than every 3 hours when I am with her. She is a snacker. When I am at work she gets 4 ounces every 3 hours. She wakes up on average 6 times a night and won't go back to sleep without nursing. So I would be thrilled with nursing every 3 hours and STTN!
We started cereal yesterday, and it didn't help her sleep!
