Re: Playdate frequency

We don't have much time for playdates with all our after school activities (which I consider to be social for them) and homework, so that leaves us with Friday and the weekend and weekends are filled with sports, events or working around the house.

I'll have them at another parent's prompting, but in general I keep them to a minimum.

I also have 3 kids, so I can tell them to go outside and play. Chat Icon

Re: Playdate frequency

2-4x per month. But DD gets to play with friends her age every time we get together with most of our friends since we all have young kids. So some weeks/months it's more frequent than others.

Ok someone enlighten me-- why do people say they try to avoid play dates or refer to them as torture? I haven't had one yet since my DS is so little but I always imagined it would be fun!!

Honestly, Im not a people person.

This. Having to make small talk with a bunch of other moms is my idea of torture.

Same here. I just don't have time and my DC socialize at daycare. I don't think I would have anything in common with the other moms outside of being a mom!!!!

Re: Playdate frequency

Some on my closest friends started as playdate moms from when my 1st was little. Some moms you click with, some you don't-just like any one else you meet.

There are a few I've clicked with and we get together even without the kids.

We do playdates every week or 2, with this group, all of us or just another mom and I.

This is why I will not do play dates. I don't care if our kids are friends.....I am not wasting a day sitting make small talk....I'd rather poke my eyes out!!!

Glad I'm not the only one. I find nothing fun about it. Now, lets talk about attending kiddy bday parties with other moms. This is right on par with play dates...

I usually bring DH to those parties so I have someone to hang out with! If I have to suffer, HE has to suffer! For better or for worse and all that...! Chat Icon

Lucky. Dh works on Saturdays, which is when all these parties are, so he conveniently misses all the 'fun'.
The one I went to this weekend had alcohol, so it was pretty tolerable.

Playdate frequency

I didn't really but I am a hermit mostly and won't leave my house much. However I love kids and fun crafts etc. So the neighbor across the street has a little girl AJ's age and yes we have known that for 3yrs but now they are in school together, same class, same age. So NOW we have playdates. But its just them two. Plus her mom is a new-gen beatles fan (meaning her parents weren't fans) so its fun for me to share that with the mom. The girls adore each other and make drawings for each other at school and are 'best friends'. So why not?

They came over for a craft project due for school two weekends ago and the mom and I both know the girls want a sleep over we just haven't decided who is going to pull that short stick. I mean 5 is YOUNG for a sleep over but we are just a walk across the street if it fails.

For now the next 'playdate' is halloween! LOL

When your kids get older, parent's don't come on the playdates Chat Icon Chat Icon But I don't do them often. I get tired of the little girl drama that comes with them.

Playdate frequency

DS is still young and my ILS watch him so he doesn't have 'friends' in that sense. Our friends do have children in his general age range so if anything we do play dates with our friends and their children. This usually happens once a month, give or take.

:). Sounds like it!

My DC are too young for class parties but I am dreading them. Weekends are for quality family time, errands and cleaning!

Re: Playdate frequency

I'm a FTWM, so our "playdates" are more like getting together with other friends that have kids, but it doesn't happen on a regular basis.
