What position do you sleep in?
Is one position more beneficial then others? I was reading that sleeping on your side is better than your back because of something having to do with the uterus & blood flow. I actually wake up on my back but I usually toss and turn throughout the night . I'm 18 weeks Monday. How do we know if we are hurting anything?

I believe they say sleeping on your side is best (left is possible). After 20 weeks you should try not to purposely sleep on your back.

Same thing happens to me and i was never a back sleeper... always side. Yet lately every time I wake up, I'm on my back! Makes me nervous!

Re: What position do you sleep in?
I have always been a side/stomach sleeper, and I mainly am still on my side but I also wake up on my back sometimes or occasionally it's more comfortable to be on my back for a bit. I'm 37.5 weeks and at my sono yesterday everything looked great (knock on wood). I wouldn't worry too much - just try to sleep comfortably.

i toss and turn lately,so i'm changing positions every half hour...but generally your body will tell you if you are harming the baby bc it will become uncomfortable.
I wouldn't worry about this.

I usually sleep on my side or stomach-I was told to try to sleep on my left side after 16 weeks. The concern with sleeping on your back is that the weight on the uterus slows the blood return to your heart reducing blood flow and therefore oxygen and nutrients to the baby. This becomes more of a concern as the baby grows. I would not worry if you wake up on your back. I have found that putting a pillow behind me reduces the amount of times I roll on to my back.
