Make me feel better. Anyone have this>>>>
Hi,
So I went for my level 2 soon yesterday and doctor told me that my cervix is little short and I have little extra amniotic fluid. Said they want to see me in 2 weeks to check cervix again to see if it got shorter but then when I ask about the fluid she started rumbling that it could be nothing or baby can have deformities, retardation. When I heard that it went pretty much to her sounding like charlie browns teacher. She said all my tests came back perfect and I shouldn't worry but how can I not. P.S worse thing I did was come home and start googling. I know I know!!!! Hoping some one can shine some light with experiences on this one. Still waiting for OB to call me and really explain it.

I have no experience. Just sending lots of good thoughts your way. And please stay away from the Internet researching. It can tell you that you are dying from a little cut.

I haven't experienced this but I have read about it because I'm google happy - I've read that experts don't really know what causes extra amniotic fluid and that while it's possible it's a defect of sorts, that is just one of MANY possible causes. If you're other tests came back okay I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Did the doc recommend an amnio?

With my dd, who was my second, I had a tremendous amount of amniotic fluid. I mean A LOT!!! The increased amount came about in the last month of pregnancy. I had a scheduled c-section on a Monday and went in for my last appointment on a Friday. They said if I wasn't scheduled for a c-section on Monday, they would have done it on Friday. They said they didn't know the cause, but mentioned that it could be b/c of issues with the baby, but all of my tests came back normal and all of my sonograms were great, so they weren't too normal. Sometimes it happens and they have no idea why. That being said, they did have a neonatologist in the delivery room. DD came out and she was perfect. No issues. The dr. laughed and said there was so much fluid that she came out swimming!

I have experience with the extra amniotic fluid with both my pregnancies. It turned out that the extra fluid came from having gestational diabetes. I passed the glucose test with both pregnancies and the extra fluid and diabetes decided to appear in my third trimester.
