BTDT: did your LO still go to daycare when #2 arrived?
My DD is 19 months now, she will be be 2 when baby #2 arrives. She goes to a sitter 2 days, and my MIL watches her 2 days a week. I work 4 days in my office and one from home. I am trying to figure out if I should continue to send her to the sitter after baby#2 comes while I am on maternity leave. Thoughts? Experiences?

At the time, DS 1 was going 3 days and we continued to send him so we wouldn't disrupt his routine and to give me some time to rest while DH was at work.
ETA - He went in later and came home earlier since I was home.

When the time comes I fully intend on my DD keeping her schedule.

BTDT: did your LO still go to daycare when #2 arrived?
I'm definitely planning on sending DS to daycare when the new baby comes. I don't want to disrupt his routine and it would be hard to have 2 at home while we are all adjusting. With that said, DS goes to daycare 4 days a week and I am debating whether I only want to send him 3 to save money and have a little time at home together during the week.

I kept my first LO at sitter part time, maybe 2 days a week rather than the 4.

DS goes to daycare 2 days per week right now. I don't plan on changing that when DS2 arrives in a few weeks. He loves going and I want him to keep his routine. Plus it will give me some bonding time with the little guy.

Yup.... didn't want to change his schedule. Instead of 4 days a week (Fridays he was with my dad), I put him in 3 days a week. It was summer so he loved the outside play and sprinkler time. Gave me time to spend with the baby and DS1 was just 2 and he was loving being active and playing with his friends.
He didn't stay as long either. Usually picked him up after snack in the afternoon (which was when they got up from nap). Usually he wanted to stay bc they had playground after.

Re: BTDT: did your LO still go to daycare when #2 arrived?
I'm currently home with DS2 and DS1 is still in his daycare. I thought about taking him out or doing part time, but at 4 since he can be so....spirited...a lot of the time i thought he'd probably have a better time there and it would give me a chance to bond with the baby... Its also Pre-K there so I tell myself it's better I don't take him out of school too much.

I am torn on this b/c my mother in law watches DS1, so i am thinking maybe she will still take him maybe once or twice a week.

Me too. My DD is in daycare full time M-F. I may drop her off a little later and pick her up a little earlier, but she will continue to go all 5 days.

Yes, didn't want to change his schedule. It was nice to not deal with a toddler running around while trying to care for a newborn with little sleep the first few months. I would pick him up earlier than normal some days.

I just dropped down the amount of days while I was home on maternity leave.
She went 4 days/week so I just sent her 2 days/week.
Kept her used to the schedule and I get a little break and time alone with the baby

Re: BTDT: did your LO still go to daycare when #2 arrived?
I was home for 6 weeks alone with DD when she was born and DS was in preschool (he's 4). It was great, then he was home for the summer with me and the baby and it was HARD. I had trouble juggling both of them. It got easier by the end of the summer though. He's now in Pre-K and I'm back to being alone with DD during the day. It's great! If you can, I would keep your DD going to the sitter.

We still continued to send DD to DC. It helped all of us, between keeping a routine, giving her non-baby time and getting to see her friends. She was 3 at the time. We were able to just send her for a couple of hours here and there.
