breast pumps and edge park
With DS#1 I got the medela freestyle and it was 100% covered through my insurance from edge park. DS is now 2 years and 2 months old and by the time DC#2 comes he will be almost 3.
I was looking to see if they sell replacement tubing for the breast pump...just because i happened to be there anyway and was curious and the lady at BBB said that they don't sell it because you're not supposed to re-use a breast pump. I kinda find that crazy bc it's a $400 pump and it wasn't used for that long.
Anyway, That made me wonder...how often are you eligible for a new breast pump through insurance / edge park? how many of you re-used your breast pump from previous child? and is replacement tubing something i can get through medela and just not avalable through BBB or is the lady right and i should just get a new one? theres nothing WRONG with my tubes...i just figured they were sitting around for 2 years i'd like to get all new accessories.

Re: breast pumps and edge park
I can get a new pump with every baby. I got my 1st (with my 1st) through edgepark. I reused that pump with my second (ordered new parts from medela), and I just ordered a new pump 2 weeks ago for my 3rd.
I think the lady was wrong, you can order tubing from medela.

Re: breast pumps and edge park
I would definitely call medela. I recently had to return a power cord to them, it got all twisted and in the manual it says if that happens to return it. While on the call I mentioned that I needed the smaller breastshields as opposed to the 24 that come with the pump, and she sent me new breast shields, connectors and an insert for free!!I was shocked, when I was looking to order it on their site it would have been about 50-60 dollars. The point of this whole story is that Medela seems to be very helpful and really stand by their product and I am sure if you call they will send tubing if it's something they do.

you can order replacement tubing from Medela. if the pump works fine, i don't see any need to replace it with a new one (unless your insurance completely covers it and you want to). i plan to use the same pump for DC#2.

Re: breast pumps and edge park
I just went on Edgepark's website and I saw they had a selection of only three pumps and they're definitely not the most advanced... Is this really the case or can you request other pumps (like the Medela Pump in Style)? I got my Pump in Style from them three years ago when I had my first, which is why I'm asking.
Thanks!

Those are the only pumps they offered me when I called a few weeks ago. 3 years ago I ordered a freestyle from them.

Re: breast pumps and edge park
They do sell new tubes if you need them. Maybe you need to look somewhere else than BBB.
My insurance will cover a breast pump for each baby.

Re: breast pumps and edge park
My insurance allows me to get a new pump with each pregnancy. When I had ds in 2011 I called edgepark around 14 weeks and got to pick out whatever pump I wanted (medela freestyle). I received it at 16 weeks. I recently called edgepark since I am pregnant with baby #2 and it seems I am limited to the 3 choices they offer now. I also have to wait until a month before my due date before I can even pursue anything. As far as new parts go, I think you can order them on amazon.

Re: breast pumps and edge park
I don't know about the insurance part, but just want to say that I just bought a parts replacement kit at BRU with new tubing.

Re: breast pumps and edge park
edgepark used to do the fancier medela but i think once everyone was covered for a breast pump they stopped. early in my pregnancy they said they had it but i couldn't order until i was 1 month from my due date and by that time they no longer had it. they had the basic medela one.
my insurance covers a new pump for every baby.
