What is your order?
If bath is in your bedtime routine do you do it before or after dinner?

After dinner we do either a little playtime or a bath. Then we do pjs in her room, sit on the floor in there and read a few books while she has her milk, then a song and bed. She gets her elmo lovey and white noise and that's it.

Re: BedTime Routines

Dinner, play a little, bath (alternate nights. Washcloth face and hands on non bath nights), pj's, bottle, then i give her her pacifier and blankie for books, then put to bed still awake. DD is 9 months and I'm hoping not to change it much going forward. Maybe adding some prayers soon.

Re: BedTime Routines

Since DS was about 6 months our routine has been:

Dinner
Bath (every other night)
Milk on the couch
2-3 books on the couch
Brush teeth
In bed

It's worked great so far and DS is now 28 months.

Re: BedTime Routines

After dinner we play or go for a walk. Then bath followed by pj's. He has some milk on the couch while either myself or dh reads him books. Then brush teeth & bed.

DD is a bit young for a routine but it seems like a lot of you do the same thing, so this is really helpful.

Re: BedTime Routines

In an ideal situation this is our schedule:

6:00-6:30 Dinner
6:30-7:15 play time/clean up dinner/sometimes a movie
7:15-7:50 bath time, DH dries hair while I give kid 1 a bath, then kid 2 has a shower (I wash/clean his hair) while DH dries/combs hair, and the kids dress themselves in their PJs
7:50-8:00 teeth brushing, pee before bed
8:00-8:10 reading, tuck in, hugs/kisses and lights out. They can have a glass of water before bedtime.
It can take anywhere from a few minutes to 3 hours for them to fall asleep from lights out.

If Dh or I have to work late or have a late meeting then bath time takes longer or is skipped for that night.

ETA: This routine has been in place since our kids were a few months old and my oldest is now 6 years old.

This is pretty much our exact routine except we only have 1 child. Instead of water my DS gets a cup of milk and brushes his teeth afterwards.

Re: BedTime Routines

Bath isn't every night, but when it is, it is definitely after dinner.

Bedtime routine is as follows:
(Bath)
PJs
a little play if there's time
Milk in highchair
Brush teeth
Bed time story while she's laying in crib already
Turn on sleep sheep, make sure she has her lovies, and say good night.

Re: BedTime Routines

After dinner/daycare:

Play in LR

Jammies

Sippy of milk - usually just sitting in her little armchair in LR

Brush teeth

In her room - read her three books (multiple times LOL) while she's sitting in my lap. This whole part usually takes 30 mins.

Crib where she cries for like one minute b/c we're leaving.

Bathtime isn't routine. If it was, it would be after dinner.

eta: 15 months
