So Upset ** Update **

Just received DH new insurance benefit package in the mail from his new job... and OF COURSE, ALL HEALTH SERVICES AND ASSOCIATED EXPENSES FOR INFERTILITY TREATMENT are EXCLUDED... They don't cover any of it. I have no idea what we're going to do. I was expecting them to not cover the IVF like our old insurance, but no infertility treatment and services at all???? I mean, what is that going to mean for just the testing, the appointments, monitoring, etc?!?! At least our old insurance covered everything up through IUI. My consult with LI/IVF is for October 8th and I have no idea what we're going to do. I've been hysterical crying and DH just yells at me to stop crying, that just because they don't cover it doesn't mean I shouldn't go to the appointment - he has no clue what this could cost. I'm so upset.

So DH and I have decided to cancel the appointment with the RE for now, since it looks like we'll have to pay out of pocket. I really think that I can get a lot out of seeing a new ob/gyn, so I've scheduled an appointment with Dr. Bashian in Bellmore - a lot of girls on here have said many nice things about the practice. I really was not happy with my old doc, she never did any sort of pre-conception work up when DH and I went in to discuss it, and she gave me no direction during my 2 mc's. PLUS, whenever they tested my HCG, she never tested my progesterone to even see if that COULD have been the reason why I had the mc's. I'm really looking forward to seeing a new doc and am hoping that that will be all I need. If we have another MC, or other issues, then we'll see the RE and pay whatever we need, but I think getting as much done with the ob first is the best option we have right now.

I am so sorry. I hate insurance companies. They unfortunately have us by the balls.

Even though it doesn't cover treatment, it may cover testing.

Try to calm down until you can call the insurance company on Monday.

There are grants out there and loans are always an option. I think the consult at LIIVF may be free- hang in there!!!

I'm so sorry. That totally sucks and of course you are gonna be crying about it. DHs try to get it but they just can't. The emotional toll IF takes on a person is unreal. Definitely call the insurance company and see what they cover. Maybe if you have a diagnosis like PCOS things associated with that may be covered. I know it sucks but you will find a way to make it work. Does the company you work for offer insurance? I hope everything works out.

i'm so sorry for you.... we are planning to switch to DH's insurance at the start of the year b/c there is some IVF coverage, but who knows if that will stay the same....

I am so sorry!!! Insurance def sucks!!! Just to make sure have LI-IVF run your insurance to see what costs they will cover if any. Also, ask how much the consult will cost you so your at least aware and prepared

I have no fertility coverage but all my consults were covered and during iui all my bloodwork and sonos were covered. They weren't covered during IVF.

You will love Dr Bashian! When I took a break from IVF last summer I switched to her. She is awesome and was willing to run tests to see what my infertility issues were even though I knew IVF was the only option(tubes are shot).

She just did my csection 2 1/2 weeks ago.
