Anyone tell your DC about your pregnancy and trust them to keep the secret??

How did it work out? Chat Icon We have 2 DC, ages 3.5 and 1.5. I am currently 5w5d pregnant and have not seen the OB yet- I have my first appt a week from today (Chat Icon). We are waiting to tell everybody until after that first appt, once we know everything looks good. I would love for my 3yo to be the first to hear the news after our appt. I *think* I can trust him to keep the secret, but not 100% certain. I don't know whether I should make a big deal about how it is a secret for now and he can't tell anyone yet, or if that will just make the whole thing so exciting that he won't be able to hold it in. If anyone else did this, how did you handle it? How did your DC handle it? Did he/she blow up your spot? Chat Icon

I know I am getting ahead of myself but this is something I wonder about. I have a very very verbal 2 year old and worry that when the time hopefully comes to share news about a sibling, he will blab to the world. Well, I dont so much worry that he will as KNOW that he will.

It's tough because we will want to tell our familes before we share our news with the world but I am pretty sure DS will tell everyone he comes in contact with. Chat Icon

We didn't tell our sons (4 and 3) about it until much later on. I didn't want them to think the pregnancy was an eternity. 9 months is a long time for a 3 year old to wait for a little brother or sister.
So he doesn't have any pressure I would tell your family first but tell them he doesn't know so you can make it special for him.

We told our ds (4) that we were expecting at 8 weeks. I told him to tell no one. I told him all weekend that he had to keep it a secret. He understood and on Monday he went to daycare. I picked him up and asked if he kept the secret. He told me "no". I asked who he told and he said "everyone". You can try but some secrets are just too good not to share.

We told my daughter when she was 3 years and told her that she had to keep it a secret. A few months into my pregnancy I found out she told her daycare teachers that mommy was having a baby but it was a secret so they couldn't tell anyone. Never trust a little one! lol

My Dd is 2. We told her around 8 weeks. She then outed me to my neighbor who we hardly know. She came over to say Hi when she saw us outside one day and DD blurted out "A baby in mommy's tubby". Chat Icon I couldn't believe it!

We told our 2 year old DD at 6w. We waited until the night before we planned to tell our immediate families. We wanted her to break the news the next day. She ended up blurting it out as soon as our parents arrived. It was actually cute. We didn't want to tell anyone else until much later on and she never told anyone else.

My girls were 15 months and just 3 when I found out I was pregnant with #3. We told the older one not thinking she would say anything. I get a call from daycare a few week later and her teacher says, Is it true what Grace told me? I said well it depends what she told you. She said we have a few children with fifths disease and were concerned for any pregnant mothers. Grace must have overheard us speaking about it and interupted and said my mommy has a baby. Gotta love my girl, always looking out for her momma!

we told DD (6) and DS(4) first and told them not to tell. It didnt even last 2 days. DS told the entire family that there was a baby in mommy's belly at his 4th birthday party.
