LI vineyards/hotels

We have decided to do a vineyard/overnighter for our friends 40th bday. I know nothing about the LI vineyards. We would need a nice hotel (an indoor pool would be a bonus), near enough to the vineyards (possibly even a shuttle service), and close to a good restaurant and somewhere fun to go out night.
I poked through some old posts and saw East Wind. It seems like it may be a good fit. But I would appreciate some other places to look into. Or even restaurants/nightlife near by. Thanks!

Re: LI vineyards/hotels

If you want restaurants and stuff nearby, check into staying in greenport. Greenporter and harborfront inn. I doubt a hotel will have a shuttle to vineyards though, you would probably have to organize that with a company. But the hotel might be able to help you do that.

Anyway, Greenport is a cute town with a lot of restaurants.

Riverhead could also be an option. There is a Hyatt Place there and you can walk to restaurants from there.

Hilton Garden Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Hotel Indigo and Hyatt Place are all in Riverhead. Hotel Indigo will be the nicest and I believe they have a bar/restaurant on premises. This is a boutique hotel so it's going to be a little more expensive than the others but be prepared. Everything out there is expensive because they're the "only games in town".

All of these hotels are about a 10-15 minute drive to the beginning of the wine trail. But keep in mind the trail is long so while you may be close to some vineyards, you may also still be 30 minutes away from others.

East Wind is nice but it's further west and therefore longer to get to the start of the wine trail. No other place out there really has "night life".

I agree with the above poster that Greenport is a cute town and has a lot of restaurants and shops. There is also a brewery in the town which stays open until about 6:00 on the weekends. There are a few hotels in Greenport but a lot more Bed & Breakfasts than hotels. Still, a great town and about 15-20 minutes east of the easternmost vineyards.

None of these hotels are really going to run a "shuttle" to the vineyards. That's something you're going to have to organize on your own through a limo or bus company. But keep in mind that if you take a limo or a bus to the vineyards, many of them will require you set up an appointment in advance as many will only allow a certain number of limos or buses at once. If your party is small enough, though, you might be able to get away with not making an appointment.

I spend a lot of time out that way. I'm a wine club member at a few places and am very familiar with the area so if you have any other questions or need suggestions on where to go, please feel free to ask.

I've stayed at the Hyatt and the Hotel Indigo. The Hotel Indigo is a little too hoity-toity for its britches. Yeah, I guess it has a nicer "look;" but the walls are paper thin, and there's nothing insanely amazing about it. It does have a bar and restaurant.

The Hyatt is a very, very short walk away from The Riverhead Project, which is, in my opinion, an incredible restaurant. This restaurant has a bar as well. Both of these hotels are about 10-15 minutes from the very beginning of wine country, but you could definitely do a limo package.

I've also stayed at the Greenport Resort Condos, which I love. They are about 10 minutes from the start of wine country on the eastern side.

My favorite is the country inn at jamesport. It's the most reasonably priced, is in the middle of the wineries, and is clean
