Moms of 2. Second child ?

Do you find your 2nd child is much more mature than your 1st? My second dd is 14 months and isn't like a baby anymore She walked at 9 months and she already has 100+ word and she just talks like a 2yr old already.. I feel like she is just so mature. She plays like a much older child. Im happy she is healthy & smart. Im really amazed at how curious to learn she is but I was really hoping I could keep her a baby a little longer.

I felt the opposite. My boys are 14 months apart and I feel like ds#1 grew up right away and ds #2 who is 3.5 now I feel like he was a baby forever :)

DS1 is much more immature and whines way more than DS2. DS2 is 2. He's much tougher and then his big brother.

I have three and I felt exactly the opposite. My oldest DD is far more mature than both her younger brother and sister. She's always been an old soul though. I think part of it is that we tend to baby the younger ones longer.

And ummm...100+ words at 14 months? I think my youngest had around 2 words at that time!

I feel that DS 2 is growing up faster than DS 1 but, I feel that's because he has DS 1 to immitate and more toys geared towards older kids at his fingertips.

He loves to take matchbox cars (or Cars cars) and send them down a ramp...

ETA - DS 2 is 17 months and has about 10-15 words including... Toodles, Quack, and Alison (after he heard my mom calling me by my first name this weekend). I think he chooses not to talk if he can repeat things clearly!

I hear this a lot...
But my kids are both about the same.
DS is better physically, DS (younger) is better with words and numbers.

Mine is 15 months and sort of says mommy and daddy. My second is slower at everything!!

I agree with this. My boys are 3 years apart. THere are some areas where DS1 was more advanced at the same age, but DS2 THINKS he is older than 2. He has since he was a baby. He wants to be treated in the same way his older brother is. Which makes life difficult! DS1 walked slightly earlier, and talked more fluently earlier, but DS2 is more physically advanced, and knows his letters etc earlier. He can even read about 20 kindergarten level sight words at 2yo all because of sitting and doing "homework" with his brother.

Most of all I see it in his likes. He is exposed to things at an earlier age than his brother was. He skipped alot of baby toys in favor of remote control vehicles and trains and electronics, etc.

As my ped said, DS2 has a built in educational specialist living with him (DS1), so you will see the advancement quicker!

ETA: all that said, DS1 was a MUCH easier child! DS2 is more high energy, has a short fuse and a hot temper!!!!

Total opposite here. My older DS did everything fast- walked, talked, potty trained, moved into a bed, etc... My younger DS is 3 years younger, he's 3.5 now. He still wants to be a baby. He walked late, asked a little later, still working on potty training, just got into a bed a month ago.

YES!! DD is 18 months old but I feel like she hit all her milestones so much earlier than my son did. She never played with baby toys, always gravitated to the toys my 3.5 year old was playing with. Like your DD, she's very advanced verbally. She knows her ABC's, can count to 10, speaks in 3-4 word sentences, etc. so that makes her seem a lot older than she really is. I feel like I didn't get to enjoy the baby stage with her, which makes me sad sometimes.
