Help! I am losing my milk supply with 6 weeks to go
DD is 10.5 months and I was hoping to EBF for 1 year or more - so I am almost there but my supply is dwindling fast. I seem to have a good amount of milk in the morning but after that it is down hill. I have noticed her not gulping/swallowing as much lately and also noticed less peepee in her diapers. She used to drink through 2-3 letdowns and now it is just one and there is not much coming out. I just did a pump test for her PM feeding and after 4 hours and only got 2.5 ounces. (DH gave her a bottle of 5.5oz and she sucked it down).
I also did a pump test 2 days ago and after 6 hours and got 3.5-4oz. Blah.
So if I had to guess - I think she is taking 15-17oz a day and she eats 3 meals a day. She is not taking a sippy cup so well yet…maybe takes a few swigs of water. I think the doctor said 15-17 oz a day is normal at this point…gonna call her tomorrow
Anyway I know why this happened…she loves eating solids and is just nursing less overall. SHE IS STILL interested in nursing but there is just nothing coming out. I nurse 4x a day and try to let her stay on 10-20 minutes but it is not doing much. I eat oatmeal, am drinking Mothers milk tea 1x a day, lots of water. I just don't think there is any coming back. What do I do??
I do have a freezer stash - I can supplement an extra 5 oz a day which may get me through another 3-4 weeks. I am not against formula though. But when can I do whole milk?

whole milk at 12 months per ped. i don't BF anymore due to lack of supply but my dd is similar in age and her formula intake has decreased since she has been on solids. maybe your milk supply is adjusting to her needs at this point. i think that as long as she is drinking what she is, you are both fine. kudos to you for making it 1 year!

You can do whole milk now if it's just a supplement.

I started mixing in whole milk at 11 months, I wouldn't bother with the formula at this point.

I tried whole milk just before 11 months. Turned out DD was allergic so I ended up bfing until 13 months when I finally got allergy testing complete and started almond and soymilk. Do you give cheese and yogurt? I think I would include plenty of dairy in LO's diet and just try not to stress about your supply. Chances are the supply is going down bc the demand is going down. If you only wanted to go 6 more weeks then why not just go with it? I just weaned DD a little before 16 months bc my supply had slowly decreased down to pretty much nothing as DD nursed less and drank more milk. BTW, I definitely felt less and less of a letdown and hadn't heard that gulping for a while. I figured it was normal as they get older and are getting a lot of nutrition from regular foods.

Ok thanks girls you are making me feel better. I am going to keep at it I just wasn't sure if I should add any extra oz?
I pumped this a.m. and got 6oz. Made me feel better. So think she is def taking in 15 oz a day - I hope? She eats yogurt every few days so I will keep that up.
