Fulton Steamboat Inn, Lancaster, PA
For those of you that have stayed here, how were the rooms? They look a little small and dated. We've stayed at numerous hotels in the area including Eden, but this time strongly considering the Fulton based on location, price, and amenities. It also gets great reviews. We'll be travelling with my 2yo and 4yo. Just want to make sure we won't be disappointed! My husband and I are huge hotel snobs ;)

I have been there a few times and actually, I'm headed there tomorrow!
I really love it. It is unique and has character. Your kids would love the playground and duck pond. It's close to everything - actually the Rockvale outlets are right next door along with Cracker Barrel. Also I believe every room has a fridge and microwave which is great with kids.
However, just so you know your source I don't really consider myself a "hotel snob." For certain occasions I might like to splurge and there are certain amenities I look for but other than that, I don't commonly stay at expensive or 5 star properties. So I am not really sure if our expectations are the same. I don't remember the rooms being dated but there are a few different room types, too.

Thank you so much for your honest input! Not that we plan on spending much time in the room, but did you find they were spacious enough for 4? The virtual tour makes them appear so small! Also, i read quite a few comments about the mattresses being older and not that comfortable. I know I'm not moving into the place but there are sooo many hotel options in the area, I just don't want to regret my choice! (Plus, a good night sleep is crucial especially with two little ones!)

I've never had a problem with the beds and I'm with you on the importance of a decent mattress.
I would describe the room size as average - not particularly small, but definitely not large. I would think it would be adequate for you, especially if the 2 year old is just going to sleep in the bed and you don't need a crib or playpen. Also, I am assuming you're hitting the parks and spending little time in the room. The thing with FSI is that it's a "regular" hotel room and won't give you the space of say a Country Inn and Suites. There is no "living" area - it's just a room.
We have two kids as well but the trip I got back from today was for just DH and I. (FSI has become somewhat of a romantic getaway spot for us.) As much as I love it there, when we do Lancaster with the kids, we usually just stay at the Country Inn and Suites across from Dutch Wonderland. They have a little more space and free breakfast, which is convenient to just grab on the way to the parks.
The other thing you can do if you want to try FSI is try the rooms with bunk beds. When DH and I went last year I booked last minute and the only king room they had left also had two bunk beds so we took that. We obviously didn't use them but I remember the room was bigger than usual because of the layout of the beds. But I'm not sure if you'd want your two year old in a bunk bed, although I guess the bottom would be fine.
HTH!

I loved when I stayed at the Fulton Steamship. Your room is a typical hotel room from what I remember since its been like 5 years the rooms were a decent size. But it is a cute hotel and I would def. stay there again especially in the winter since their pool is heated and indoors. There is a cute farm behind the hotel too so the kids will get to see the cows grazing in the morning so that might be fun for them.

I'm a hotel snob myself and have stayed at both... hey, if you're going to go away on vacation might as well splurge abit for the experience!
In the last 3 visits, I've stayed at the Fulton 1x and Eden resort the last 2x.
Fulton definitely has smaller rooms and a smaller indoor pool. It's charming with the duck pond and playground but if you kids like water, go for Eden 'cus the pools are much bigger, there are indoor/outdoor pools and a little sprayground for the kids.
I personally prefer the suites at Eden and would not go back to Fulton.
