Are you doing anything special for your older dc's ?
Was wondering how to prepare ds who will be 20 mo when dd arrives so he'll feel special..... Not sure if he'll get the concept of being a big bro then but we'd like to do something so that he won't feel shafted when new baby gets more attention.... Anyone thinking of this too? TIA!

I'm trying to think of what I will do for him or get him. I want to get him a big brother gift from his new baby brother but DS is whatever about gifts and toys. He's been so spoiled by grandparents being that he's the only baby/kid in the family *on both sides* that he doesn't really get excited for things like that -- even at 3 years old.
I know I'm going to make a concerted effort to be sure when he comes to visit me in the hospital that I'm not holding DS#2 at the time and that I focus all of my attention on seeing DS#1 in that moment.

I bought dd presents from the baby..... 2 big sister books and this fake wooden make up kit one of her friends had and she loved it.

We are going to get the boys some sort of gift from the baby. They will be 5 and almost 4 when the baby is born so they understand a baby is coming.
When ds#2 was born ds#1 was only 14 months so we didn't do anything. He was clueless

DD1 got a few gifts in the hospital and at home from my mom and friends. DH and I got her a fish
I also read books with her about being a big sister.
DD2 was in the NICU for a week, so it was a slower transition from hospital to home.
She "got" it more than DD2 does now.

I'm not really planning on doing anything. DS1 will be 2.5 when the baby gets here and he doesn't really get it yet. Plus I know that the grandparents will get him gifts.
