? about temping
I've never temped before but I have used the OPKs and I usually get my surge from day 11-13.
I have a basal body thermometer and I understand I should take my temp as soon as I wake up. I understand that a rise in temp will tell me that ovulation already occurred.
My question is: Why do I have to temp for an entire month? Can't I start temping around CD 8 and continue until I see a spike in temperature while keeping a very close eye on the few days after my surge?
TIA

You can do that. It's not "by the book" but there's no reason you can't if you are certain you ovulate in a particular timeframe. I don't temp when I have AF.

People do it every single day to keep up the routine. I know once I stopped testing after O was confirmed, I never picked it back up. But I was really good about it for months... then I just got lazy.
Also I recommend temping after O is confirmed because you can tell when AF is coming as your temps will drop towards the end of your LP. It saved me a loootttt of money on PG Tests. No point in testing if your temps drop to the coverline, ya know?

I temped before my iui cycles (no need to temp with all that monitoring) and I would do it day 8 until two days after O.
