XPOST from PG - Rug for the nursery, HELP
Where did you get your nursery rug?
This is the bedding set we registered for and just received...

We are not doing a white crib, we are doing a cherry crib:

And the walls are Benjamin Moore - Nantucket Fog (the pic below is NOT our home, just a pic of the color I found on Yahoo):

The floors are wood, stained like a Brazilian Cherry, if that matters. All of the moulding is white, ceiling white. The fixtures on the closet door and regular door (like knobs and hinges) are rubbed bronze, if that matters.
The rug that is featured in the first pic, from Pottery Barn, is very nice - I think the color would work but it's like 6 or 7 HUNDRED dollars
So, my question, do you know where I could find a good rug that is similar but a lot cheaper? And what color would you go with considering the colors I have in the room -- the green like shown in PB or blue to match the walls??
I'm lost here! Thanks

XPOST from PG - Rug for the nursery, HELP
We got our nursery rug from Target. Found it online and it was only about $100. There was no way I was spending a lot knowing how easily it could get ruined. A little over a year later and it already needs a serious cleaning from all the times we get home and DD is sleeping and I just need to get her in there quickly and quietly so I end up tracking in dirt on my shoes. I've seen beautiful rugs on zulily and you could also check out the pottery barn outlet although they usually only have a few choices. I would probably look for a cream color with a blue or green pattern.

Thank you!
I didn't think about cream or beige or anything like that... it might work out better, just neutral rather than trying to either match the blue or green.
I was thinking maybe a light blue which matches the scenarios IN the bedding -- like, the bedding is overall green but there is light/baby blue IN the pictures so maybe picking that up?? Hmm.

Re: XPOST from PG - Rug for the nursery, HELP
The more people say try neutral or khaki the more I like the idea -- I looked around and did check out a few sites suggested here. I really think the "trellis" design is beautiful and classic -- I didn't want anything youthful, I wanted something more mature. It reminds me of the PB rugs - the trellis look.
Then I went over to overstock.com and found one that really looks great...
It is $169.99 for 5x8 which I think is a bargain!

The floors shown are very similar to ours.
Here's another...

I think I like this one the best!
Wow, group effort, thanks everyone! I was having a heck of a time with this. Weird, the furniture was easier to find and decide on than the rug

Re: XPOST from PG - Rug for the nursery, HELP
From a BTDT mom, of now 6 1/2 year old twins , spend as little as possible on a rug.
I have two words for you... projectile puke
Sorry to be so gross but that is the reality. It's going to happen... probably more than once and at 3 a.m.
Our nursery rug was a cheapo less than $100 beige area rug from Home Depot, low pile... that is probably 8 X10 that is a bit worse for wear now but I have no guilt about tossing in a year or two.
I've heard a lot of pottery barn rugs shed like crazy. Also keep in mind you want a rug that can grow with a different decor. At 3 years old you might want to give your baby a big girl/boy room, a neutral color will allow it to be included in the decor.
I also at designer diaper bags. You can't get the smell of spilled breast milk/formula out of a bag. Best to get a canvas bag you can throw in the washing machine on a hot cycle. I still use my Skip Hop Duo diaper bag as a carry on for air travel

I agree with the pp about puking and spending little $ on a rug. I love overstock for rugs. Free shipping and they will take anything back free shipping if you are not happy with the quality etc.
