Wearing baby
At what age do you typically start wearing baby? I got the ERGObaby carrier with insert and was planning on using it right away when I walk the dog during the day. I just figured it would be easier to wear her than to push her in a stroller. I was talking to one of my friends (who has a 1 year old) yesterday and she said typically you don't wear baby until around 4 months. Our dog is on a strict training protocol and requires two hands to hold her leash correctly.

Wearing baby
I only wore my ds 2x. Both were when we traveled.
It was just not really something I ended finding necessary
I know others who did it all the time.

Re: Wearing baby
I did it once with my DD and I haaaaaaaated it. I thought it was so irritating having her stuck on my chest. I had the Chicco carrier which was nice but it wasn't my thing.

Re: Wearing baby
You can wear them whenever you want but you have to make sure their neck is supported. We used the bjorn a lot when she was little. I think with having a toddler, we will be using it a lot more. I am also going to look into the Moby Wrap.

I started using the moby wrap when DS was about 1 month and he loved it!! I could get stuff done and he would sleep on me.

Re: Wearing baby
If you have the infant insert, you can use the Ergo right away as long as your baby fits comfortably inside. You might need a blanket rolled under the baby for extra support. Once the baby can support his/her head for a long period of time and you the baby fits in the carrier properly, don't need the infant insert - which is around 4 months old.

Re: Wearing baby
I used the ergo from the day we came home from the hospital and the moby when we started going out more at like 2-3 months. He loved being held and it allowed me to get things done

Re: Wearing baby
I stared wearing my daughter probably around 1 month. I loved wearing her (I haven't been anymore since im preg with #2 ) It was especially great when walking the dogs or quick shopping trips. If I was doing a few errands I would leave the carrier strapped on me while driving between stores and just pop DD in. IMO, sooo much easier than taking out the stroller.

Re: Wearing baby
Mommy of 2 crashing.
I didn't have a sling until DD1 was 3m old, but she lived in my baby ktan for months afterwards. DD2 was worn in my Ergo from 7w. Both my girls liked to be held 24-7 and this allowed me to actually accomplish something while keeping them near me. You can wear them from birth with some carriers.

I used a Bjorn w/DS 1 & 2. I know some don't like it, but it worked well for me.

Wearing baby
Babywearing is a beautiful thing! I wore DS starting 2w, just because i wasn't really sure what I was doing and nervous. However as an advanced babywearer now, I will start right away with this one. Even in the hospital.
For the beginning, I like to tell beginners that the Moby and ring slings are great. You could also use soft structured carriers with a newborn, but they'll need an insert. But it is safe and possible.
FTR, I'm still wearing my toddler and will continue throughout my pregnancy. I plan on tandem wearing them once babe is here.

Re: Wearing baby
I wore my babies right away. The ergo with insert might suffice for your dog walks. I used a ring sling (Sakura Bloom) exclusively for the first few months. I just bought a ergo and I love it so far - no insert but my LO is almost 4 months.

Wearing baby
I habe a Bjorn & been using it since my baby was a few days old. Weight on it is 8-25lbs. I use it when she wants to be close & I want to get stuff done (vacuum, laundry, cleaning, use laptop..ect). Used a Bjorn with all 3 of my kids.
