breast pump and GHI- grandfathered plans
I just wanted to post here because I have answered some people's posts about my experience with breast pump and the NYCDOE GHI plan. I know GHI doesnt cover pumps but I received a pump because I was told by GHI there are two exceptions- if your baby was in the NICU or if you had twins. I was given the pump and have been using it since DECEMBER. I got a call today from the pharmacy that the pump's claims have all been denied and that I will probably have to give it back and possibly pay rental fees.
I have to have GHI review all the phone records from December to verify that someone actually told me that I was eligible for the pump in order to not have to pay the back rental. Also I have to give the pump back (which i'm SO bummed about because I LOVE the pump! Medela symphony).
Just thought I'd share my experience and clarify any past posts.

I'm so sorry this happened! That's really ****** if they make you give it back or pay rental fees!

That stinks!! I have GHI and had to pay out of pocket in 2011 when dd was born, but I was hoping that with the new laws, they would have to cover it now!! What a bummer!!!

what??? I can't believe they are making you give it back! That's ridiculous- can you appeal that decision?

I'm compiling info and plan to do a big sweep 
however I am not that hopeful
I am VERY fortunate that my mother bought me a PISA for my shower and I have been able to use both.

you should definitely appeal! i know recently they changed the policy to start covering breast pumps but i also know you have to go through their vendor. Its not like you can go buy one and then submit a bill.
Maybe the claims were rejected for a billing error? keep me updated.....i can help. send me fm
