We did real oak over a vapor barrier and it still buckled. If I had to do it again I would do engineered glued down which my parents did on theirs nd it still looks gorgeous 10 yea later.

We wanted too but in the end we did wood look tiles and we adore them!! We have radiant heat though so they aren't cold in the winter.

wood floors over concrete slab?
I have engineered floating over slab with radient heat in the slab. We were told not to do glue because of the heat it could cause issues with the glue. I am nto 100% happy. part with the wear of the floor and part with the bounce that there is.
If I had to do it over I would put down the tile that looks like wood. We used it in our bathroom and I LOVE it!!!!!

Re: wood floors over concrete slab?
we did floating wood laminate flooring over our concrete slab. Just did, out contractor said it was the way to go, but we had a lot of tile so we wanted to be able to float over the old floors and not have to rip up all the tiles

We put down plywood and a vapor barrier. You can still see a little ripple in the floor. I don't think most people would notice it but I do.
