Normal shot reaction? With pic update
Ds got shots yesterday (not sure which one but I think prevnar between all 3 kids they got 6 shots so I forget) but his arm is really red and it is getting bigger. He doesn't seem to be bothered by it. Normal? Dd has a red mark too but not nearly as bad .
Update: he had dtap and it is totally normal!

I think a red bump is normal - this seems a bit extreme. I would definitely call your ped and see what they say.

Call the ped and see what they say. This happened while we were at the peds office when the twins got the DTap at their 2 year visit. DS's arm had a huge red bump. The dr drew a circle around it and we waited 30 minutes. She then gave him Benadryl because it got bigger. The Benadryl helped and he was fine after that. Other than the big swollen arm, he was fine.

Re: Normal shot reaction? With pic
My kids all had that reaction to their DTAP boosters. Huge, swollen arms. I was told it was normal.

Now that I think of it maybe it was dtap and ds #2 had prevnar. That makes more sense. I drew a circle around it before he went to bed ill check on him a little later and see if its worse. Thanks!
They also had hep a but she said there wouldn't be a reaction from that.

DTaP or DT Vaccine: The following harmless reactions to DTaP can occur: Pain, tenderness, swelling or redness at the injection site (in 25% of children) and lasts for 24 to 48 hours.

Hope he feels better soon.

Re: Normal shot reaction? With pic
I'd also report this reaction to VAERS!!! Do not count on your doctor to so.

I agree to call the doctor if you're worried, but literally every.single.time one of my kids have gotten DTAP shot they've had this reaction, and the ped has never ever been worried. From what I can gather it's an extremely common reaction.
Here's the website my ped referred me to the 1st time they had the reaction. It's listed under "mild" reactions (though IMO a whole swollen arm is not just a mild reaction)
------ What are the risks from DTaP vaccine?
Getting diphtheria, tetanus or pertussis disease is much riskier than getting DTaP vaccine.
However, a vaccine, like any medicine, is capable of causing serious problems, such as severe allergic reactions. The risk of DTaP vaccine causing serious harm, or death, is extremely small.
Mild Problems (Common) •Fever (up to about 1 child in 4) • Redness or swelling where the shot was given (up to about 1 child in 4) • Soreness or tenderness where the shot was given (up to about 1 child in 4)
These problems occur more often after the 4th and 5th doses of the DTaP series than after earlier doses.
Sometimes the 4th or 5th dose of DTaP vaccine is followed by swelling of the entire arm or leg in which the shot was given, for 1 to 7 days (up to about 1 child in 30).
Other mild problems include: •Fussiness (up to about 1 child in 3) •Tiredness or poor appetite (up to about 1 child in 10) •Vomiting (up to about 1 child in 50)
These problems generally occur 1 to 3 days after the shot.

Lesson learned write it down when I am there! Thanks!

Definitely! And just so you know, once they had this reaction, every DTAP booster they've had has produced the same arm swelling. Very annoying!

If you ever decide you want to detox after vaccines:
green foods are good- apples, cilantro
Depending on how old you LO is, give them a Bentonite Clay bath or foot bath.
And I know people who use the following:
