TTC newbie (sort of) with questions
Hi Ladies,
It's been almost two years since I last posted. This will be our second TTC but I really feel like a newbie! I was diagnosed with PCOS the first time around but we got preggo on the first month of trying after seeing a fertility specialist who did the full workup and put me on Metformin for that one month (DS is not 2.5). I'm really hoping it'll happen completely natural this time around I have pretty regular periods (which I never had before having DS) and I started using the CVS OPKs to track this month. However, the lines are just not quite the same color as the test says they should be for Positive but also not so different to make me think it's a definite Negative, which makes me think that I'm either not ovulating, ovulating very late (today is CD 18 and I just now gotten two semi similar color lines), or the test is just not that great...
Anyone have any reviews on these OPKs? Anyone have experience with regular periods but no ovulation? Any tips that can helps this process go smoother?
Thanks so much and I look forward to sharing this journey with you

Re: TTC newbie (sort of) with questions
Welcome! In a similar boat here. I like the wondfo OPKs (and pregnancy tests) which are available on amazon. they are cheap and really sensitive.
I dont know from the CVS OPKs but I find that a positive on the wondfos is very obvious. My first cycle using them I thought I got a positive because the lines were nearly equal and then it went light afterwards, but I tested again a week later and got a true positive. The lines were equally dark and then the next morning the test line was even darker. I have longer cycles and find that I will often get a nearly positive OPK and then get a true positive a week later, so its possible my body is gearing up for O and then doesnt and then tries again and does.
This cycle has been a little wacky and my test line has been darker than usual but never a true positive. It's darker again today so I am hoping it will turn to a true positive. A friend gave me some CBE digital OPKs which I started using last cycle to confirm what I thought was a pos on the cheapy tests. They give you a smiley or a O so its very clear. But, they are pricey so for someone like me with irregular cycles they are better as a backup.
And, fwiw, this is my 4th cycle using OPKs and I have never once had a positive before CD19. How long are your cycles?

Thanks for your reply! My cycles are usually between 28-30 something days. Last three were around 28 days which made me thing my O should've been around CD 14 but your post makes me feel much better that it could happen tomorrow. I'll try the OPKs you suggested for the next cycle.
Are you/ or anyone reading this also taking any vitamins or supplements? I read some women already start taking prenatals during TTC.

I am taking prenatals with folic acid and DHA and b6. It's really important to have folic acid in your system when you get your BFP so I would start taking that ASAP. It can help prevent neural tube defects. DHA you can wait until your BFP, but its good for brain development and I found a prenatal that includes it. (In my previous pregnancy I took a separate DHA pill).
I am taking b6 because upon starting the OPKs I think my luteal phase is a little on the short side and I read b6 can help with that. It is also supposed to help with morning sickness.
