Which One Should I Buy
I used a bassinet up until DS was 7 months. We kept it in our next to the bed. Never used a cradle. Could not have lives without the bassinet though. I know a lot of people buy the rock n play in lieu of either. For me it did not seem secure enough. DS was a preemie and when he finally came home I wanted him safe and feeling secure like he did in the isolette. I think you'll get a different answer from everyone you talk to and you have to decide what fits your needs and what you are comfortable with.

Re: Which One Should I Buy
We're going to use the bassinet portion of our play yard for the first several months. I don't see the need of buying a separate bassinet if the baby only uses it for a few months.

Friday night I was looking at the Rock and Play and I don't like the set up of it(buckle, etc). I think I may just get the bassinet or a pack n play.

Re: Which One Should I Buy
We have a beautiful wooden cradle that we bought for DS and will use again for this baby.
The cradle felt more secure for the baby bc it's a real piece of furniture. We never considered anything else. I think it's probably more about personal preference though.

Re: Which One Should I Buy
I'm going to use the attachment on the pack and play only because the baby will be in our bedroom for a while and with our bed and furniture it will be kind of tight with anything else....I also think the bassinet will collect dust after I use it and the pack and play will be more useful

We have a bassinet. We also have a rock and play but I won't be using that for night time.

DS would not sleep in a bassinet. A cradle would have been the same issue.
We had a RNP. Never used the buckle. They are so tiny in the beginning they would have to jump up and leap to get out.

We used the rnp with DS. Worked great! With this baby, we may do the same, but will prob put baby in the sidecarred crib since we practice the family bed.

Neither. DD slept so much better in the RNP.

Neither. We had a bassinet given to us by friends but DS refused to sleep in it. He was in the swing for a few weeks and then transitioned easily into the crib at night. Still working on the crib for naps, though!

Re: Which One Should I Buy
We used a bassinet and then the bassinet feature of the pack and play. I researched and did not like the idea of DD sleeping in the rock and play.

Neither We used the bassinet portion of the pnp I would spend the money on a rock n play although he doesn't sleep in at night we use it all the time (outside, when we are at other people's houses etc)

Re: Which One Should I Buy
We bought neither though I really debated getting a bassinet. Right now the plan is for him to sleep in his crib at night - although with me exclusively breastfeeding, that's obviously a tentative plan.
My hope now is for him to sleep in his crib (his room is just a few steps from mine) and nap in the swing/rock n play/newborn attachment to pack n play/ bouncer (uh yeah we bought everything bc we are 'those' first time parents who just don't know lol) .. and I'm figuring he'll nap in those during the day.
