clogged duct?
I am not really sure when a duct goes from being clogged to mastitis, but at what point do you call the doc? And do you call your OB?
I was in a to of pain this morning and noticed after pumping I was still in pain and not much came out. All day I have been applying heat packs, hot shower, massaged area, and pump every 2 hrs. It is still sore to the touh and hurts when I hold DD on that side or she latches on. I don't know at what point to call. Advise?

Re: clogged duct?
I've had both a clogged duct and mastitis. I did call the OB once, went in and they "unclogged" it for me. I won't go into detail because it was painful and they had to use a sharp tool. Other times the pain hurt so much during the night I went to the ER and they tried to unclog the duct and gave me antibiotics. Definitely get it taken care of asap!

Oh my!!! Now I'm scared. I called and none of the doctors are in a Fridays so I have to see a nurse practitioner. I don't want it to get worse. I took Tylenol and that didn't help at all.
We're they successful at the ER?

clogged duct?
My just unclogged. I did go to the dr. He gave me antibiotics ( was ok for dd). I had the same symptoms you mentioned but also some flu like symptoms (chills, aches). Definitely call your dr.

clogged duct?
I think it unclogged itself. I am pumping more and it's not as tender and hard to the touch. I will see how I feel in the morning.
Thanks ladies!

I posted this a while ago and got some great advice which helped. For me I exclusively fed dd on that side which was terribly painful but def cleared it up in a day
Here is the thread with other tips Feel better! http://www.lifamilies.com/chat/topic.aspx?&P=1&ID=787682&Highlight=

Re: clogged duct?
I have had a lot of clogged ducts. Some are just painful and one time it led to mastitis. If you get the chills and start to run a high temp and have achey flu like symptoms call your dr!
Otheriwise my best advice is to nurse DD on that sore boob for as long as possible and in all different positions. I had to nurse my DD for 40 min to get the clog out. Also the pump did not work and I put it on forever.
