I think I'm experiencing a strange hair phenomenon
Ok, this started a few months ago and I'm completely baffled. After washing my hair, I started noticing a small section of hair on the back/crown of my head that looks and feels greasy/oily. Usually when it's wet I can't tell but then after I blow dry, I can feel and see it. I've tried switching shampoos, using less conditioner and only putting conditioner on the ends..but it still happens. Thankfully my hair is dark so it isn't that noticeable but it is driving me crazy!!! I just started googling it and it seems I am not the only one (thank goodness). So while I've heard a few different suggestions, I'm wondering if anyone here has had this issue and if so, how did you fix it?!?

rub shampoo on your head BEFORE you get in the shower. shampoo on dry hair will absorb all the oil. i do it all the time

I think I'm experiencing a strange hair phenomenon
Same thing has happened to me....this may sound random, but it usually happens when I am in need of haircut.

Re: I think I'm experiencing a strange hair phenomenon
What about trying a little dry shampoo after your hair is dry on that section?

I would make sure you are thoroughly massaging that area of your scalp with the shampoo - like really massaging. This happened To me once and that fixed it.

I get this too. I find really rinsing well helps and I sometimes use a white vinegar/cold water rinse. Vinegar is a natural de-greaser so it removes grease and build up. Just rinse super good or you might smell like salad dressing!

Re: I think I'm experiencing a strange hair phenomenon
Omg! The same thing happened to me last summer! It was on the back of my head, a little to the right of where I would wear a ponytail! At first I thought it was because I would put my hair up wet, but it wasn't the spot where I put my hair up. I tried everything, the only thing that finally worked was using the neutragena anti-residue formula shampoo. I'd say it took a good 3-4 shampoos with the stuff before it went away! It was the craziest thing, I am praying it doesn't happen again!!

This happens to me every once in a while. I use a clarifying shampoo on dry hair than rinse and repeat. That usually fixes it.

Yes, I read about the vinegar online earlier! And salad dressing is exactly what I thought of! Lol. But I'll try anything!
Thanks!

Re: I think I'm experiencing a strange hair phenomenon
Thank you all for your responses! I will try all of these things so that I can rid myself of this grease ball section of my hair . I'm hoping one of these will do the trick.
((Off to buy dry shampoo, clarifying shampoo, vinegar and get a haircut!))

Yea, it's on the back near where I pull my hair back too! Thanks for the info!
