my DS - almost 3 - has NO interest in potty training!

I don't know what else to do! We have tried the no diaper thing, the Cheerios thing, everything and he just doesn't want to do it.

He starts preschool in September and I wanted him to be trained by then - at least #1 - but it's not looking good! Thank God the school doesn't require it.

He will be 3 at the end of September

Any advice? Anyone else in the same boat?

I didn't train my DD till she was 3 years, 2 months. She didn't show any interest before that, so I never even attempted until then. I say shelf it for a month or so, and then revisit.

We attempted training ds many time and he had no care or desire. He didn't mind wetting his pants or the diaper.

This past week at 3.5 I think we are finally there he is getting it and is very excited to go on the potty. We are working on #2 though. WHich he did when he was 2 but that didn't last long.

Good Luck - i'm a believer they have to be somewhat ready.

DD started showing interest around 2. I was pregnant at the time so we were thrilled. Naturally after the baby came (she was just under 2.5) she really didn't show interest anymore. I tried and pushed and pushed and tried and nada, lol! I just took a break at that point. She started preschool last September and I also wanted her to be trained but it was hit and miss. Some days she would use the potty and other days she wouldn't. Then one day in December (she turned 3 in Oct) she just came home from school and told me she had to use the potty and that was it! From that point on it's been smooth sailing! Never a wet pull up at night, just a few day time accidents here and there. I am now a very big believer in when they're ready, they're ready!!

My son wasn't interested at 3 either. I got sick of people saying he'll do it when he's ready but, it's true - he'll do it when he's ready and when he's ready - it will be a lot easier.

I waited until he was 3 years, 4 mos - I WFT and needed a completely free weekend. He had been asking me for a week or two before that to change his pull up when it was wet and was waking up dry in the morning so I knew he was ready - he just didn't know it.

The first day - he didn't make it to the potty at all but, he did first thing the second morning and once he saw how proud we were - he was good to go (and bribery helped lol!)

Number 2 took a little longer (and more bribery) but, he was fully trained about a month in (thankfully I knew his pattern of doing number 2 - he'd do it only at home and usually in the evenings so I was able to get him before he did it after a two days of accidents).

Hang in there - it will happen.

MY DS wasn't that interested at 3 either. I purposely chose a preschool where he did not need to be potty trained.

It was a gradual process for us. But by 3.5 he was fully daytime trained. I was home with him on maternity leave, and just went with it.

My DD turns 3 in Sept & we tried everything. Even the 3-day. As much as she LOVES the feel of underwear, she's not willing to use the potty. And she knows how, because she does it when we take her. BUT she won't do it on her own will & definitely not for #2

My oldest we tried to train prior to 3 but he had no interest. Trained within 3 days at 3 years 2 months.

My now almost 3 year old is hit or miss but not truly interested. I'm not forcing the issue.

DS never showed a particular interest but I still went ahead with training him anyway. He was pee trained right away at 26 months using the 3 day method. It took 2 more months for him to get #2 down.
