Lake george questions
Thinking of taking the boys here...they are 6, 4, 2 and 1. I don't know why I am having such a hard time finding a place to go??
Originally was thinking Hershey, but don't want to spend the day on lines.
Would you rec. lake george? If so, what things would you rec doing? How many days do you think is good to stay?

Re: Lake george questions
We started going to Lake George when my son was three-this will be our third year going. He has a great time and there is a lot to do with kids. Of course, just hanging out and swimming in the lake is always fun.
We always go to The Magic Forest, which is a small amusement park perfect for the little guys (I don't think they have updated anything since the 70's but my son loves it!) , we have gone on a horse drawn carriage ride, to the rodeo (his favorite part of the trip each year). There are many kid friendly restaurants and they have fireworks every Thursday night over the lake. At night on Canada street they have a small park where they had a magician one night, bounce houses set up another. We always go for a ride on the Minne Ha Ha. It is a stress free, fun vacation. We usually go from Sunday to Friday and we have enough to do, or can also just take a day or two to relax at the lake.

Re: Lake george questions
we wanted to go to lake George last summer, but had trouble finding places to stay (I'm a littlw picky).
We ended up going to Mt Washington Resort and had a great time! We want to go back every few years.

Re: Lake george questions
I definitely recommend Lake George! I've been going since I was a child and now that I have kids, this will be our 5th year in a row.
We always stay four nights and I think that's a perfect length, especially with young kids.
Some of the things we've done: Magic Forest...as mentioned above. Water Slide World...sort of a rip-off though, unless the heat is unbearable. Pony rides Arcade Fort William Henry Minne-ha-ha paddlewheel boat ride...a Lake George classic. Adirondack museum...a bit of a ride, but great! Kids loved it. Fireworks every Thursday night. Rented a pontoon boat once...fun! Waterfront dining, ice cream like every day, and cheesy souvenir shops...what's better?
There's also horse and buggy rides, mini golf, and a wax museum that we haven't made it to yet.
Can't wait to go this summer!

Was looking to go away with DH and maybe our 6 month old. Any one have any hotel recommendations?

Re: Lake george questions
This year--along with the last two--we are staying at the Sundowner. It's at the end of the strip. It's got a pool and a small private beach on the lake. Very clean and the owners are super-nice!
