How to pay for home improvement
How do peope normally pay for a $10,000+ home improvement? A HELOC, or a interest free credit card and hope to pay off the balance during the intro period, save up enough money, or a 401(k) loan, etc?

Re: How to pay for home improvement
I renovated my entire home room by room over 5 years. I saved up and then paid cash because I hate interest. We would also charge when we could because points rack up quick if you charge cabinets, tile, etc and would them transfer the $$ to the card. I get thank you points on my card. If someone charged me less for cash I would go that route.....

How to pay for home improvement
We are using a combo of cash and Lowe's card (great incentives going on now for the 4th of July for what we need - all new kitchen appliances, and flooring).

I've used 0% interest cards. Obviously looking for the ones with the longest time period to pay off. Haven't had a problem yet.

Re: How to pay for home improvement
Cash mostly. We have done 0% credit cards, but my rule is we must have the cash on hand so we can pay it off when we want to.
