Who would you believe??
Sorry this is so long...I have been having growth sonos since early on because I was on blood pressure medication (which can restrict growth)...the baby measured in the 32nd, 25th, and then 15th percentiles...doctor sent me to Stony Brook for a more in-depth sono with doppler imaging to make sure things were ok...that sono came back showing the baby in the 46th percentile! She did have trouble getting the head measurement, but that measurement was not one that threw the numbers off at all...it was actually one of the smaller measurements...And this was 10 days after my previous sono...I had another growth sono this week (10 days after the in-depth one) and the baby was showing the 18th percentile...and the weight was estimated as the same as the tech at SB showed it to be 10 days before! I tend to believe my regular office's measurements more because they have been consistently showing her to be in the same range, even though SB has better equipment, etc. What would you think??

I would believe Stonybrook. They have newer equipment. What is your obgyn saying?

Re: Who would you believe??
My OBGYN seems to think their numbers are always slightly inflated due to the program their equipment uses...I tend to believe the tech that always does my sonos...she has 4 measurements that are all in the same range, vs. 1 measurement that is so off from the others...

Every machine is different and none are 100% accurate. You really can't compare #s from different machines. Also, there's human error, so every tech will get slightly different numbers, even if they use the same machine. It's just the way of the world.

Re: Who would you believe??
That's a tough one. I think I would believe my doctor since you said they have been consistent. Though I may be inclined to ask them for a second specialist just incase.

Re: Who would you believe??
I just feel like there is such a difference between 15th percentile and 46th percentile...and honestly, I don't know the tech at SB from anyone else in the world, and I know the tech in my office also is a tech at a MFM practice and she has done all of my sonos (even on different machines within the practice) and has been consistent. I'm just so bothered by the fact that they had such different percentiles for the baby...

Who would you believe??
Like a PP said, everyone is going to have different measurements. There are different factors that can go into it. My sister always says that there is a difference either way (I can't remember the exact number) and that nothing is really that accurate. Being that SB has the better equipment and your doctor sent you there for better results, I would probably go by SB's measurements. If no one seems too concerned though try not to worry too much (easier said then done).

Re: Who would you believe??
I would be more concerned about the progress on ones chine than several different machines.
