Re: Lake George Recs
I responded on the thread above, but I always recommend the Holiday Inn on Canada Street. It's not on the water but it's a really nice hotel and it's not even a 5 minute walk into the village. Aside from that, most of the little motels on the water aren't in the greatest shape. If you want to be in LG village, I suggest the Fort William Henry if being near the water is a must. If you're willing to stay outside of the village (10 to 15 minute drive) then Cresthaven Lodges are beautiful and the Sagamore is also very nice (but pricey).
Restaurants: Farmhouse at Top of the World is my absolute favorite. It's on the top of Lockhart Mountain and it's a farm to table restaurant. The food is out of this world!! Down in the village there's Mario's, Barnsider. Adirondack Brew Pub, Christie's on the Lake. A little bit of a drive: Algonquin, Sutton's for breakfast, Boathouse Restaurant (at Cresthaven Lodges), George's Steak House.
