Protein
I'm just about 14 weeks pregnant and meat has been something I can't eat. On occasion, I've been able to eat it a little more lately, but the first 12 weeks, I couldn't even smell it or look at it without gagging. I'm concerned I'm not getting enough protein for the baby. Anyone else have this problem? I'm going to bring it up to my dr as well.

I didn't have this problem (sorry you're going through it ) but have you tried other things to get protein in... like eggs, nuts, peanut butter?

Re: Protein
I'm starting to deal with meat aversions. I try to get protein from dried beans (lentil, chickpeas, cannelli beans), tofu, eggs and nuts.

Re: Protein
Like PP have said: beans, nuts, lentils, and even greek yogurt has a lot of protein.
Don't stress about it too much. Eat what you can, lots of protein is not even something you need to have.

Re: Protein
You're probably getting plenty of protein, it's the iron you have to worry about. Can you tolerate dairy? Nuts and peanut butter, whole grain breads, beans, soy products, cereals, granola bars all have protein. Just look at the nutrition labels an try to get your daily intake close to 100% of your daily recommended value. I'm a vegetarian and this is my 2nd baby and I've never ha a problem with protein. I do get slightly anemic (low iron) during the 2nd 1/2 of my pregnancies though. I just take an iron supplement once per day.

Re: Protein
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have tried throwing beans into my salad and I eat yogurt/cottage cheese. I will try some of these other suggestions. Thanks!

My food aversions where eggs and chicken so I had the same problem. I would snack on nuts whenever I could and had yogurt often. I'm 37 weeks and so far even though I've had a couple problems, baby boy has been perfect the entire time. Try not to stress too much about it.
