first post here with a BFP question....
if you get a BFP, at what stage do you consider it "real." after you go to the doctor for a blood test? i read about some of you girls having chemicals, and i am just worried....
at what point can i consider a BFP real? i only did 2 cheapie tests this morning, so i sort of dont believe the results - even though they both came back positive.
i will do a digital soon...but i dont want to get my hopes up either
any feedback?

I believed after the digital. (I ended up having a mc at 7 weeks, but that's when it was real for me.)

Re: first post here with a BFP question....
It became real for me after I tested with the cheapie test and retested with the digital. I only had gotten my positive the day after AF was due to arrive.

Sounds like you are pregnant!Unless you are doing fertility treatments or let the test sit too long (evaporation lines)/did not follow test instructions, false positives are VERY rare. A chemical pregnancy will test positive because you did conceive but the fetus failed to develop properly.

I would consider it a reality after AF is due and then for real real after a sono or beta.

Re: first post here with a BFP question....
It definitely felt real to me once I saw the bfp - especially since I had early symptoms that just made me feel different. Seeing the heartbeat made it much more real for DH. All that being said, I still feel only cautiously optimistic because I'm in the first tri and trying to keep things in perspective. Hopefully after my 12 week scan I will really believe there will be a baby next year haha

i felt the same way. the 1st positive hpt test just confirmed the early symptoms. but my heart will rejoice to new levels once i hear that heart beating away & the chance of ms goes down.

Re: first post here with a BFP question....
All pregnancies are "real" once you missed your period and got a positive result on a test. The sad thing is that they don't always stick. In my case, I had 3 chemicals, all before 6 weeks. That's when I told myself NEVER AGAIN with testing before AF is due. Getting the results too early (I used to test 5 days before AF was due) just made it all the more painful when I lost it 1-2 wks later. In my case, my "period" usually showed around 5 days late (which maybe I wouldn't have even known it was a chemical if I hadn't tested so early).
So for me, I didn't count my pregnancy as something to be celebrated until 8 weeks when I saw her little ultrasound & heard the heartbeat. Still didn't go around making any announcements though until after the 1st trimester was done (at 12-13 weeks).
