Question about chemical pregnancy..
Basic question about a chemical pregnancy. From what I understand it's when you get pregnant and then miscarry before your period is due.
So my questions is- if you conceive and miscarry before your period is due, how will you even know you had a chemical? All you know is that you got your period and that you are therefore not pregnant, right?
Thanks.

Question about chemical pregnancy..
Many women will actually take a pregnancy test BEFORE they miss their period. Many of the tests can detect very low levels of hormones.

Re: Question about chemical pregnancy..
In my case I had a chemical during my first IUI cycle so I had a Beta(blood test). It detected HCG but it was low. Had to go back and see if it doubled or tripled and it was increasing slightly which meant it wasn't sticking. I missed my period and ended up getting it finally almost a week and a half later. If you are a week late chances are you could have had a chemical. You won't know unless you take a HPT or blood test to confirm. Otherwise you could just be late for other reasons. HTH!

Re: Question about chemical pregnancy..
I believe a chemical is when you lose your pregnancy before 5w pregnant. So, there are some people who test before missed period or right after AF is due and get BFP. Then, a few days later they get AF. Many people have chemicals without knowing it, especially when they aren't trying.

Re: Question about chemical pregnancy..
I got BFP's at 9DPO and 10DPO, and even got a "Pregnant" on a digital.
If we weren't ttc I never would have tested that early, so I never would have known.

Question about chemical pregnancy..
I believe a chemical is when you get a positive test but lose the baby before you ever see anything on the ultrasound.

Question about chemical pregnancy..
They do say that many women who have chemicals don't even know it, because they hadn't tested yet. For those people, it's just like they are having their period. However, for those of us trying, you typically test a little before. Also, from what I've read it's considered a chemical up to 5 weeks - so at 5 weeks you're already 1 week late with your AF and likely would have taken the test.

Re: Question about chemical pregnancy..
I had a chemical in April at almost 6 weeks- my doctor said about 6 weeks is the cutoff OR if they take a sonogram and don't see a sac- which was my case.

Question about chemical pregnancy..
This is why I refuse to test early. Why am I going to put myself through all of the emotions of getting a BFP just to get AF when it's due?
