Colposcopy Update

I had my colposcopy on Friday. The good news is that I do not have cervical cancer! YAY! The bad news is that they had to do a biopsy so now I sit and wait for the results. Hopefully, I will have those by Friday.

If they are low grade abnormal cells, they will just wait and see if they clear themselves up. If they are high grade abnormal cells, I will need to have a LEEP done. Seeing as how our luck has been, I will probably need the LEEP. My gyno said I should still be good to go for an IVF round in August.... Fingers crossed. Chat Icon Obviously, it also depends on if the RE gives us the green light.

Side Note: I was pretty nervous about the colposcopy - everyone online compared about cramping, bleeding, etc. I had no cramping or bleeding whatsoever - so I guess in that aspect I "lucked" out.

I went through all that also, earlier this year. Mine was high grade and I ended up having laser ablation of my cervix instead of a LEEP. My OB thought the laser was better if I planned on TTC again soon. There are obviously advantages and disadvantages to either, but it might be worth asking about!

For what it's worth, that was in Sept and my January pap came back normal! Good luck :)

Thanks for the info. Mine said the LEEP would be better than the cone biopsy. I will talk to him more about it if my results come back high grade. Of course I have never had an abnormal pap and now when everything is time sensitive it happens!!

Colposcopy Update

The LEEP is not too bad. I had it done 10 yrs ago. Better to get rid of the pre-cancerous cells then to have them. Just make sure that when you do get pregnant they watch your cervix super closely since it can affect it.
